Nancy Hoffman

of Conway, AR

January 25, 1961 - January 31, 2017

Nancy Leona Hoffman, 56, died at Heritage Living Center in Conway, Tuesday, January 31, 2017. She was born January 25, 1961, in Conway, AR to Homer and Alta Hoffman of Vilonia. Nancy had Down syndrome and was among the first students at the Faulkner County Day School in the mid-1960's. Later she attended Conway Work Force. She was a 21-year resident of Cottonwood Group Home in Morrilton and moved to Heritage two months ago. Nancy considered Cottonwood her home and the staff and residents a part of her family. She enjoyed watching old western shows; her favorites were ''Rawhide'' and ''Bonanza''. Her hero was John Wayne. Nancy loved to sing old-time gospel and Grand Ole Opry songs. She knew by heart all the words to her favorite songs.

Nancy was preceded in Death by her parents. Survivors include two sisters, Doris Hutchins of Conway and Connie (Keith) Bolton of Vilonia; three nieces, one nephew and numerous cousins. Nancy was a member of the Church of Christ.

The family would like to thank the staff at Cottonwood Place, Heritage Living Center and Kindred Hospice for their loving care and support. Donations in Nancy's memory may be made to Cottonwood Place, 610 W. Church, Morrilton, AR 72110.

Visitation will be 12:00 PM Friday, February 3, 2017 at Roller McNutt Funeral Home in Conway. Celebration of Life will follow at 1:00PM at the Funeral Home with burial following at Vilonia Cemetery.

Doris and Connie,

So sorry for your loss. Nancy and your Mom were so very special to our family. They faithfully visited both my Grandmothers and Mom and Dad. And sometimes, I was there when they visited and I enjoyed spending time with them. May your fun and loving memories give you peace and comfort.

Doris, Connie & family,
I'm so glad I was able to make it to Nancy's Home-Going. Its been so many years since I last saw her, she looked just like I remembered, that big ole beautiful smile in church sitting next to her mom & dad. I know she's happy to be with them once again.
The service is one I'll remember for a long time. It was good to hear all the stories & see everyone.
With much love.

Doris and Connie - So sadden to hear of the passing of our Nancy. Makes me think back of all the fun times we all had together as a family. All I know now is that she is there with all our family members singing God's graces in heaven and looking down on us with that smile of hers. Thinking of you both.

Nancy was a wonderful aunt, and I will always remember how much she loved to sing to all the old songs she knew. She also loved to laugh at old TV shows like Andy Griffith! Such a joyful spirit- she will sure be missed.

I had the honor of caring for nancy for the last year and a half. She was the sweetest person I've ever met. She loved singing. I remember when Elvis came to cottonwood place and she went up to him, grabbed his hand and started singing' hound dog'. She greeted me everyday with a smile and a hug even when she didn't feel up to par. Her contagious smile will live with me forever. Love you Nancy. Help John Wayne hold down heaven.

I had the honor of being Nancy's bus driver/teacher at the Faulkner County Day School in the early 70's. She was such a happy sweetheart! She sang her favorite songs on the ride to and from school every day. My thoughts and prayers are with her family.

The Hoffman family were close friends many years ago in Vilonia. I was always impressed by Nancy's smile and her eagerness to attend church. She loved to sing and many times would be sitting on her front porch singing when I came to visit.
I have many good memories of Bible Study at the Hoffman's home and how welcome they made everyone feel.

I had the privilege of meeting Nancy (and your mother) many years ago when she was working in the Faulkner County Work Program on German Lane. She was a delight and I always wondered what program she ended up going to. I'm happy to hear that she loved Cottonwood and saddened to hear she had to go into a nursing home during her latter days. I pray that you will be comforted by friends and feel the peace that only God can give.
