Mr. Johnnie R. Andrews was 80 years old when he passed away Friday January 13th in Mountain Home. He was born in Hessmer, Louisiana to Charles Andrews and Mary Lillian Andrews on October 9th, 1936. Mr. Andrews was a member of the U.S. Air Force, U.S. Navy, and the Army National Guard for a total of 14 years. He then met Shirley M. Zarnke and they were married at the VFW post in Bull Shoals on October 9th, 1988. Johnnie was very active in the community of Bull Shoals. He served on the city council of Bull Shoals, and as building inspector, he supervised the construction of the gazebo in Danheuser Park in Bull Shoals, and he also was the manager of Dogwood Apartment Complex under the agency of low cost housing.
Mr. Andrews is survived by his wife Shirley M. Andrews of Bull Shoals, and son, Mark Andrews (Darlene) of Denver, Colorado. His daughters are Terry L. McGinty (Mike), of Pineville, Louisiana, Laura Hoosier of Pineville, Louisiana, and step-daughter Patricia Sass (Eugene) of Leesburg, Florida, whom Johnnie always treated as his own. He is also survived by eight grandchildren: Jonathan, Brandon, Corey, Johnnie D., Shaunda, Carrie; and step-grandchildren Andrew Sass and Sari Larson. Johnnie was preceded in death by his parents Mary and Charles Andrews, and grandson Christopher McGinty.
A memorial service will be held at the First Baptist Church of Bull Shoals where Johnnie was a devoted member on Friday, January 20th at 11:00 a.m. followed by an internment at Baxter Memorial Gardens at 12:30 p.m.. There will also be a luncheon at the First Baptist Church of Bull Shoals following the internment. Memorial contributions can be made to the First Baptist Church of Bull Shoals.
