Richard Ballard Robinson

of Roland, AR

October 22, 1952 - January 6, 2017

Richard Ballard Robinson, 64, went to be with our heavenly Father on Friday, January 6, 2017, at his home in Roland, Arkansas.

Richard was born on October 22, 1952 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Richard and Joanne Robinson.

Richard grew up in Piggott, Arkansas and graduated from Piggott High School. After high school he attended the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville and the University of Florida, where he received a bachelor's degree in Building Construction. Richard worked for Safeway/Harvest Foods for many years before proceeding as an entrepreneur, owning and managing Sport X-Change in North Little Rock, Arkansas. He then worked for Nationwide Insurance.

Richard is survived by his spouse, Deborah Robinson; daughter, Lori Gardner (Jay); step-children, Clinton Stem (Melinda) and Allison Lamb; grandchildren: Caleb & Joshua Lamb and Wesley & Ava Gardner; sister, Nancy Bradshaw; niece, Ashlin Spann; and family.

Richard loved motorcycles, music, and anything to keep his hands busy. He was a beloved husband, an esteemed father, and the best papaw he could be.

Richard and I played high school football and basketball together at Piggott High School. He was a great teammate. We also rode back and forth to the University of Arkansas several times. He was a great friend. Prayers go out to his family.

I was Richard's high school math teacher at Piggott High School and had him for several classes. I will always remember him as one of the nicest students--intelligent, clever, funny, respectful--and certainly very handsome. His smile could always lift the spirits of those around him. I enjoyed having him in class and also the Beta Club, which I sponsored. He was involved with every major aspect of school, especially sports, but he was also quite serious about his grades.

It made me very sad to learn of his passing. My sympathy to all of his family members.

I and my husband, Charles Stewart, send our condolences to Richard's family. I was deeply saddened when I heard of his passing. He was a first cousin and I watched him grow up. He was very close to my Mom and Dad when he was in school in Florida because they also lived in Florida. I'm sure he will be greatly missed.

Good Man! Good Friend and Good Teammate. Good Athlete for a left hander. I was with him in Piggott. I was with him at the UofA and stayed with him and Greg some in Gainesville. I'll miss this old friend. Mohawks will have a formal dinner this Saturday. With me and Link Fuller on the program, we will certainly remember and honor our old teammate.
