February 10, 1944 - November 10, 2016

Ronald T. Pelley passed away on November 10, 2016. He was born on February 10, 1944, to Bertha Hancock Pelley and the late James Asa Pelley.

Ron had a Master of Science Degree in Applied Mathematics from the University of Arkansas. He taught math and computer science at McClellan High School, was a partner with his brother in a pharmaceutical software company and was a programmer for Healthcare Computer Corporation in Fort Worth, Texas.

Ron was an avid reader and collector of backwoods maps. He loved his beagles, hunting, fishing, and Buffalo River float trips. He never could resist a stream, a mud puddle, or a rocky road. He loved a good argument and seldom heard a rule he didn't question.

In addition to his father, Ron was preceded in death by two brothers James Asa Pelley, Jr, and Jesse Pelley.

He is survived by his wife, Gail Pelley; his mother Bertha Pelley; his nephews Scott (Laura) Pelley and Hunter (Terra) Pelley, Mark (Dawn)Miller and Randal (Twila)Webb ; his nieces Kathy Forrest and Debra (Chuck) Cotton; sister-in-laws Loretta Miller and Rozell Webb and a host of great-nieces and great-nephews.

A memorial service to celebrate his life will be at 3:00 pm, Monday, November 14, Roller McNutt Funeral Home in Conway. Visitation will be at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the wildlife charity of your choice.

Sad to learn of Mr. Pelley's passing. I greatly enjoyed his Analysis and Computer Study classes from McClellan, 1977-1978. He was an excellent teacher, and he allowed me to stay after school every night and work on the UALR VAX, which gave me a great start in computers. I owe him much.

Fond memories of Ron Pelley's geometry class at McClellan High in 1972. As many of us went on to accomplishments in math, science, and engineering, his life's work continues to impact the world. He will be missed. I'm praying that family and close friends are comforted to know that his legacy extends much broader than they may realize.
