Bruce Allen Culp

December 5, 1939 - November 9, 2016

Bruce Allen Culp, beloved father, grandfather and brother, died November 9, 2016. He was born in the home of his grandparents on December 5, 1939 in Whelen Springs, Arkansas He is preceded into heaven by his parents, Hubert Allen Culp and Eueldine Harper Culp of El Dorado, Arkansas; his grandparents, Moses Allen and Clevie Culp of Gurdon, Arkansas; grandsons, Christopher Culp of Mississippi and Walter and Josie Harper of Whelen Springs, Arkansas. He is survived by his sons, Andrew Culp of Prescott and Jim Culp and wife Sharon; grandson Justin, all of Prescott; his daughter, Katie Culp of El Dorado; his two granddaughters, Hope and Kelsey West of Prescott, who he raised from a very early age; two sisters, Sheila Calhoon and husband Jan of Dallas and Linda Hays and husband Patrick of North Little Rock.

While growing up in El Dorado Bruce loved the country life, so Whelen Springs turned into home, and he graduated from Gurdon High School living with his grandparents in the same home where he was born. He and his sister Linda shared the love of the country and horses, and spent every summer together riding bareback around Whelen Springs. When the train came through Whelen Springs they would ride beside it as train robbers & the engineer played along, holding up his hands. Bruce was the kindest, most gentle and soft spoken person one could ever know. He was quiet with an easy smile and never wanted to be trouble to anyone. He loved his family and devoted his life to them before any thought of himself. He gave his life to Christ as a young boy, and lived his Christian beliefs. All who knew him will miss him, but are comforted that this sweet soul at last is at peace with no more worries. Bruce is once again with his parents and grandparents; happy and talking about riding horses, hunting and fishing with his Dad and Uncles in Whelen Springs. He is so loved.

Graveside services will be held at Rosehedge Cemetery in Gurdon, Arkansas on Saturday, November 12, 2016 at 1:00 P.M. Cremation services entrusted to Roller-Owens Funeral Home, 5509 John F. Kennedy Blvd, North Little Rock, AR (501-791-7400)

I wish I had just taken you home from the hospital and stayed with you even if it had been for only an hour or day or less at least you would have gotten your wish to come home. I'm so sorry. I/m sorry for your suffering. I love you and you will always be in my heart. Linda
