Katharine Virginia Huber

of Jonesboro, AR

April 14, 1923 - November 9, 2016

Katharine Virginia Day Huber died peacefully and quickly on November 9, 2016, at the age of 93 in Jonesboro, Arkansas. Born in Bastrop, LA on April 14, 1923 to Tom and Thelma Day, Katharine married Franklin Robert Huber, Jr., in April 1948 and became an Arkansan. Robert and Katharine were married for 57 years before he passed away in October 2002. They were truly the love of each other's lives.
Katharine was a kind and gentle spirit who cared lovingly for her family and all those around her all of her life. She had a gift of writing the most beautiful notes, as many of you know. If you still have one of her precious notes, please read it again and remember her with love and joy! Katharine was always content wherever life placed her and in the last few years as her independence was taken from her, she expressed that contentment often to us. She always said she had plenty to eat and plenty to read, so she was happy!
Katharine moved from the farm home in Weiner to a cottage in St. Bernard's Village in May 2004 and into Assisted Living at the village in November 2015. She is survived by her son Barry (Glinda) of Jonesboro and daughter Karen Huber of Little Rock, her grandchildren Karrie Huber and Kasper Huber (Audrey), all of Fayetteville, her sister Marjorie Day Huber of Louisville, KY, her brother Charles Day (Elisabeth), of Waskom, TX, and her sister-in-laws, Martha Day of Pine Bluff and Belva Senteney of Jonesboro as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She is also predeceased by her brothers Frank Day and Maurice Day and son-in-law Randy Moore.
Always a good and faithful servant, Katharine was a member of Southwest Church of Christ in Jonesboro. A service of celebration will be held at Roller Farmer Funeral Home in Weiner on Saturday, November 12 at 11 a.m. with visitation before the service at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery in Weiner following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Oak Grove Cemetery, POB 361, Weiner, AR. 72479 or the charity of your choice.

During my childhood, my family (Charles Day) would visit Aunt Katharine and Uncle Robert while on our summer vacation to the beautiful state of Arkansas. I remember going to their farm and how lovely her house was and she made us (Louisianans) feel so welcome, even though we only visited once a year. I grew up and married Royce Walker and settled in Oil City, LA. When Royce fell ill with cancer, Aunt Katharine sent us a beautiful little book that contained stories of battles that King David overcame and she wrote a personal note inside the cover to Royce. I treasure that little book and keep it on my coffee table to this day. Love to all the family and I am praying for each of you during this time. -- Lisa
