Charles ''Digger'' Melton, 63, of Mountain View, Arkansas passed away on Sunday, October 23, 2016 at Stone County Medical Center. Digger was born on July 12, 1953 in Batesville, Arkansas to the late Kenneth Webster and Anna Geneva (Jason) Melton. Digger graduated from Mountain View High School and was a member of Foothills Baptist Church. Digger was a retired EMT, truck driver, and business owner.
Digger is survived by his wife Gail (Berry) Melton of the home; one son, Charles T. ''Chuck'' Melton; one brother, Robert Melton and wife Janice of Mountain View, Arkansas; three grandsons, Chase, Colton, and Trent Melton; two aunts, Aunt Juanita Kendrick and Aunt Shirley Melton Bradshaw; one uncle, Uncle Glen Melton and a host of extended family and friends.
Digger was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth Webster and Anna Geneva (Jason) Melton and one son, Buddy Melton.
A visitation will take place on Wednesday, October 26, 2016 from 12:00-2:00 PM at Roller Crouch Chapel in Mountain View, Arkansas. Funeral services will follow the visitation beginning at 2:00PM with Brother Jerry Cary and Brother Bryan Wilkie officiating. Interment will be at Flatwoods Cemetery in Mountain View, Arkansas.
Pallbearers are Ron Kirk, Mark Willis, Rickey Ramsey, Tillman Treat, Leonard Allen, and Robert Lucy. Honorary pallbearers are Troy Glen, Dennis Bracey, Bob Price, Bill Blansett, and Gary Foster.
Roller Crouch Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

We are so very sorry about Digger. When sis married Robert, you all became family to us. Digger was a wonderful man who would help anyone with anything, and always went above and beyond to do so. Please know that we are praying for and love all of you. May God bless you all and comfort you all in a way that only he can.

While he may not be with you in body he will always be beside you and all his family in spirit. I was saddened to hear of the death of Digger. I enjoyed working with him at the Mt. View base and he was always quick to tell a story or come up with a funny saying. You will be missed, my friend.
Digger was a great guy i rember being a lil kid rideing in the loader with my grandpa who work for digger. Not only was digger a logger but he work for his commituy by driven for vl ems. R i p digger ur never be forgoten.

I am very sorry to hear about Digger's passing. Digger was "one of a kind" and a friend that I knew for about 25 years. I fondly remember working with Digger and listening to his stories; he was a great storyteller. He will be greatly missed. I will remember him always.

Gail, we have never met, but I am first cousins to Uncle Cecil Melton's children. I am half Melton. I know who you are through Shirley. She called me today about Charles. So sorry to hear of Digger's death. We have worked with Digger & Gail since 2000, and have grown to love them . They have saved more people's lives than could be counted. Digger just knew how to comfort anyone and make a scary situation calming. He will be so dearly missed. Our love and prayers go out to Gail & Chuck and his family.
