Cathy Davis

of Batesville, AR

October 21, 2016

Cathy Davis, of Batesville, died on Friday, October 21, 2016.

She is survived by her husband, Larry Davis of the home; a brother, Carroll Showalter of California; two sons, Jeff (Michelle) Showalter of Batesville, and John (Debbie) Showalter of California; grandsons, Thomas (Nichole) Showalter, Matthew (Ashley) Showalter, Spencer Showalter, two great-granddaughters; and many nieces and nephews.

Cathy's first love was Jesus. This was very evident in how devoted she was to her church and the outreach opportunities she was a part of. Over the years she was involved in leading Bible studies, serving on committees, and leading various special projects. There were countless events that were perfectly decorated because she had applied her God given talent. Cathy's love for Christmas and its true meaning came into full bloom through her passion for Operation Christmas Child, a ministry dear to her.

Cathy demonstrated her love for family by opening her home to many extended family gatherings, caring for her parents and in close touch with her siblings who were miles away. You can also see how her love and influence on her many nieces and nephews has been lived out. Many of them recently raised funds and ran or walked in her honor.

Cathy found a way to connect her love for California, eye for fashion, and her business acumen as the owner-operator of Mode O' Day, a dress shop whose label read, "Styled in California". Her talent and hard work earned her many awards from the parent company. Following the sale of her business she found another way to serve her community. Cathy joined the Auxiliary at White River Medical Center where she logged over 3400 volunteer hours. Her strong leadership skills led to serving as the Auxiliary's President and as Chair of the District/State Board and as District Secretary.

Calvary Baptist's community service and ministry to the Pioneer football program also found Cathy's servant heart. Sporting the team jersey, and of course her genuine smile, she touched the lives of many players and coaches.

Being a cancer survivor for many years, Cathy used her experience to mentor many other women who found themselves facing the same challenges.

Perhaps the greatest legacy she passed on to the next generation of family members was her devotion to her husband, Larry. Their marriage was a picture of devotion, loyalty and self-sacrifice.

Pallbearers will be Thomas Showalter, Matthew Showalter, Spencer Showalter, Blake Weston, Taylor Weston, Grant Weston, Tim Davis and Will Davis.

Services will be on Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at Calvary Baptist Church, 1775 Lyon Street in Batesville with Randy Scott officiating. Larry Poff will be in charge of music. Graveside services will follow at Lee's Chapel Cemetery on Hwy.25/White Drive under the direction of Roller-Crouch Funeral Home of Batesville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made to Calvary Baptist Church, 1775 Lyon Street, Batesville, AR 72501 and White River Health System Auxiliary, 1710 Harrison, Batesville, AR 72501.
