Virginia Lee Bryant

of Harrison, GA

June 30, 1937 - October 11, 2016

Virginia Lee (Younes) Bryant, age 79, of Harrison, passed away Tuesday, October 11, 2016. She was born in Claremore, Oklahoma, to Curtis and Lela (Smith) Younes. The family moved to the Harrison area when
she was six years old. She attended Bellefonte and Ridgeway schools and graduated from Harrison High School in 1955.

In 1958 Virginia achieved her childhood desire and graduated from Arkansas Baptist School of Nursing. During her nursing career, she practiced in several positions,
the last 24 years as a certified school nurse in Springfield and St. Louis County schools.

Virginia and James R. Bryant were married in 1958. They enjoyed 58 years of marriage. One of the greatest joys was being Mom and ''Grandma Gin'' to their three children,
10 grandchildren, and three great-granddaughters.

Most of all, she greatly loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, since age 9, and serving Him along with her pastor-husband in several churches.

In her retirement years, she volunteered at the free medical clinic, the Pampered Feet Ministry, and The CALL. Virginia enjoyed being the pianist at Elmwood Baptist Church,
partnering with her husband in the music ministry.

She is survived by her husband, James (Jim); her daughters, Shauna (Dan) Garrison of Houston, Texas and Sandra (O.D., Jr.) Chaney of Harrison; her son, Mark (Kandi) Bryant, of Arvada, Colorado;
10 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; her sisters, Betty Watson of Carthage, Missouri and Dorothy (Richard) Hunt of Harrison; her brother, Van (Janet) Younes, of Harrison; her sister-in-law,
Shirley Patton, of Harmon; her brother-in-law, Larry (Bettie) Bryant, of Aztec, New Mexico; many nieces and nephews; and many precious friends.

Visitation was October 14, 2016, at Roller-Christeson Funeral Home.

Funeral service was Saturday, October 15, 2016, at Roller-Christeson funeral home, with Dr. James D. (Jim) Bryant of Gaither Baptist Church officiating.

Interment was in Maplewood Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Virginia's church members.

Honorary pallbearers were Dr. Kenny Collins and the staff at Family Medical Center.

If you look up the definition of Sweet in the dictionary you should find a picture of Virginia Bryant. How I loved Bro Jim & Virginia their years at Lafayette Park Baptist Church serving their Lord. My prayers are with Jim & the rest of the family as you adjust to your sweet Virginia not being next to your side. As Christians we have the promise of being together some day. I have an ornament, a little angel that Virginia gave me one year and still put it on my Christmas tree. When I do I always think of her smiling face. As I put that ornament on the my Christmas Tree this year I will say a prayer.
