Sherman Newton Mead, 70, of Batesville, Arkansas died Thursday, September 8, 2016.

He was born in Batesville on August 17, 1946, to Elmer Newton and Willie Maxie Mead.

Sherman was a fryer cook at the Hutchinson Mountain Community Fish Fry for ten years. He enjoyed recycling scrap metal and was a member of Central Avenue United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his brother, Raymond Mead of Batesville; a sister, Carolyn Litchford of Horatio, Arkansas; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Don Mead; and sister, Treva Martin.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 12, 2016, at the Central Avenue United Methodist Church with Bro. Paul Seay and Bro. Caleb Harris officiating.

Pallbearers will be Danny Mullins, William Mullins, Robert Sherrill, Brad Strother, Ronnie Hogan and Robert Hogan.

Burial will be at Egner Cemetery under the direction of Roller-Crouch Funeral Home.

Visitation is from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Monday at the church prior to the service.
