Ronald Leon Lewis, Sr.

April 5, 1934 - August 12, 2016

Ronald Leon Lewis Sr., 82, of Sheridan, passed away Aug. 12, 2016. He was born on April 5, 1934 to Leon & Mabel Lewis in Lake Stevens, WA.

Ronald was born in the state of Washington and a few years later, his family moved to Seward, AK, where he grew up. He graduated with a Bachelor Degree in Petroleum Engineering and Master's Degree of Science from the Colorado School of Mines. He also earned a Doctor of Philosophy Degree at the University of Texas in Austin.

Ronald met and fell in love with Mary Lou Brewster. They married November 2, 1956 in El Dorado, Kansas. Together they had 4 children; Jimmie Bruce Lewis, Sharon Lynn Lewis, Pamela Lynn Priest and Ronald Leon Lewis Jr.

Ronald worked for Pennzoil Oil Co. as Vice President of all offshore drilling and Vice President of Mergers, Acquisitions and Trade. He traveled worldwide during his career as a petroleum engineer. He was a key witness in the 1980's Pennzoil court case against Texaco Oil Co. His testimony won 4 billion dollars for Pennzoil Oil Co. It was the biggest amount of money awarded in a court case at that time.

Ronald loved to travel in his RV and was an avid fisherman, hunter, golfer and tarock card player. He was a Boy Scout Master and helped both his sons achieve Eagle Scout. Ronald loved meeting and visiting with people.

Ronald is survived by: son Jimmie Bruce Lewis & wife Pamela of Beaumont, daughter Pamela Lynn Priest of Tomball, son Ronald Leon Lewis Jr. & wife Susan of Sheridan; and 4 grandchildren, Megan Lewis, Aleena Priest, Ty Lewis and Avery Lewis.

Ronald was preceded in death by; his wife Mary Lou Lewis, daughter Sharon Lynn Lewis, his parents, grandson Remington Priest, and brother Bruce Lewis.

Ronald was a man of great faith and always put God first. He was a proud husband, father and grandfather. He was a caring and loving man who gave his time, kind smile and wisdom. He will always be loved and forever in our hearts and greatly missed by his family and friends.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 20, 2016, at Bluff View Cemetery near Magazine with the Rev. Judy Hall officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Roller Funeral Home in Paris.

Memorials may be made to a charity of the donors choice.
