Karel Eileen McCullar

of Conway, AR

September 5, 1947 - August 4, 2016

Karel Eileen Bohlken McCullar, born September 5, 1947 in Los Angeles, California. After attending U of A in Fayetteville, she taught at Daisy Bates and Watson Elementary for over 39 years. She was recognized as one of many truly talented and loving teachers. She always loved telling the great stories of her students.

After retiring, her passions expanded to becoming a world traveler, her love of the outdoors surrounded by her beautiful plants and flowers, and her two Schipperke fur babies, Bailey Vander Hellion and Bentley Vander Hellion.

Karel traveled to heaven on August 5, 2016 to meet her Mother, Gertrude Ann Bohlken, her father, Darrell Richard Bohlken, her grandparents and many aunts and dear friends. We are sure she is telling her funny stories and anecdotes to them all.

Those of us left behind will have to wait until our time arrives to see her again. Leroy McCullar, Karel's loving husband, soul mate and traveling buddy will have to somehow learn to go on without her until their love brings them together again. Her sisters Mary Ann Bohlken and Debbie Bohlken, with her husband Don Croft, will struggle to go on without their big sister but she prepared them well with her wit and humor.

Karel loved life to its fullest. In lieu of a funeral or memorial service she requested that her family and friends go out to dinner and talk of all the good times they had together and to rejoice in their life. She wanted us to say: do not be sad for she will see them later in heaven.

Karel was a unique woman. I treasured her friendship. It was a joy and a privilege to work with her. We talked about many things, her family, pets, flowers, politics, trips, school... I loved her sense of humor and creativity. She was one in a million. I pray for God to comfort you and fill you with peace.

The Members of Peace Lutheran would like to express our deepest sympathies to the Bohlken/McCullar Families. We got to meet the Bohlken Family when their dear mother Gertrude was called home. It was then that we saw the same joy, giving and Christ like spirit person in all of Gertudes girls. We look forward to the day that we will all see each other in heaven. May our great God surround you all in the days ahead with His Peace and Love. The Members of Peace Lutheran Church Conway AR.

I don't know how we're supposed to live without you, my dear sister. It's still unbelievable that you're not physically with us anymore.
I love you.
A special thank you to your husband, Leroy, for the immense amount of loving care and support he gave to you. Yours was one of the greatest love stories. My heart breaks for him.

You were the best of the best, Karel. I'll never forget your last visit to Fort Wayne in October of last year. What great fun we had, and what beautiful memories you left behind for me. That is how I will remember you.

Kiss Mom on the cheek for me. I'll be with you all soon.
