Thomas Lowell Hays

of Little Rock, AR

August 7, 1941 - July 27, 2016

Thomas Lowell Hays was born on August 7, 1941 into the family of Tommie and Christine Hays. On Wednesday, July 27, 2016, we lost our husband, father, brother, grandfather, great .... and the list goes on. But we really didn't lose him, because we know he just got a head start. Jesus awaited him. He was a member of Central High School's "Class That Never Was" and went on to graduate from Baptist High School at Second Baptist Church. He was a member of Geyer Springs First Baptist Church. After retiring from the printing business, he spent most of his time caring for the needs of his family. He lived Philipians 2:3-4, "Do nothing out of rivalry or conceit, but in humility consider others as more important than yourselves. Everyone should look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interest of others." This truly describes the character of Tommy. The family would like to express their appreciation to Dr. Brad Baltz, CARTI, Saline Memorial Hospice, and friend, Marilyn Hays, who gave tirelessly during this difficult time.

Survived by his wife, June; son Randall T. Hays of Bryant; stepdaughters Debbie Walker (Terry) of Mabelvale and Marsha Rood (Kenneth) of Benton. He is also survived by his brother Phil Hays (Peggy) of Little Rock; sisters Sharon Lovett (Larry) of Bryant and Melissa Mitcham (Eddie) of Fayetteville; five grandchildren Brittany Hays, David Hays, Gillian Apellido, Alyssa Rood and Elijah Rood; five great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 1, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Roller Drummond Funeral Home, 10900 Interstate 30, Little Rock, Arkansas 72209 (501) 455-5800. Visitation with the family will be at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Pinecrest Memorial Park following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, CARTI or GSFBC Building Fund.

Tommy, Marilyn & Randy were our neighbors & close friends in Little Rock for a number of years. Tommy was an outstanding friend, and always eager to help a neighbor in need. Through out the years, they have always remained our dear friends......Tommy always checked on Sandy's elderly parents, when they lived down the street. He was always there, whatever the need. Our prayers are with the family & friends, during this time.

The step father a girl could ask for, a great husband to my mother, he will be dearly missed.
