Warren Burckhart Seiler Jr., MD

of Little Rock, AR

December 2, 1947 - June 16, 2016

Warren Burckhart Seiler Jr., MD passed away peacefully in Little Rock, Arkansas on June 16th, 2016 at the age of 68. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Laine; children, Warren III (and his wife Jill), Marlee (and her husband, John, and their daughter, Emily), and Michael (and his wife, Catherine, and their children, Bridget, Michael Jr. and Rachel); and siblings, Catherine, Owen, Susan, and Timothy; and a large, close, extended Seiler family. His parents, Warren Sr. and Victory Seiler, preceded him in death.

Warren was born on December 2nd, 1947 in New Orleans, Louisiana. He attended both Jesuit High School and Loyola University in New Orleans. After graduating from Louisiana State University Medical School in 1974, he completed residency in psychiatry and fellowship training in child and adolescent psychiatry at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee, in the summer of 1978. He then started his own private child and adolescent psychiatry practice, which spanned 37 years. He had a true passion for helping others. This passion motivated him to write and publish his own book, Battling the Enemy Within, which explains many of the concepts and tools that are used to facilitate healing in oneself and others. He was proud and honored to write this book and enjoyed sharing it with others.

Warren was a generous, kind, and loving husband and father. He was most proud of and loved spending time with Laine, and their children and grandchildren. He thoroughly enjoyed playing golf and cheering for Notre Dame and LSU football. He will be dearly missed by all of his family, friends, and colleagues.

A visitation will be held Monday, June 20th, 2016 from 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm, at Roller-Chenal Funeral Home, 13801 Chenal Parkway, Little Rock, Arkansas. The memorial mass will be held Tuesday, June 21st, 2016 at 10:00 am at Christ the King Catholic Church.

In lieu of flowers, please consider contributing to the Alzheimer's Association, via the Warren B. Seiler Jr., MD Memorial Fund, , 204 Executive Court, Little Rock, Arkansas, 72205. .

I am so sorry for your loss. I was just recommending Dr. Seiler and Dr. Morgan to someone whose child is in desperate need of help. I remembered when we were in that same position with our son and Dr. Seiler and Dr. Morgan saved us. He was a great man. Compassionate and caring, he told us Shawn was going to make it through what was going on, even though we were told he would never be able to go to a regular school and would be in special education the rest of his life. Well, Dr. Seiler, you would be so proud to know he starts medical school in August....because of you and Dr. Morgan. You were his inspiration. God Bless.

So sorry for your loss. May you find comfort in the words spoken at John 5:28,29
(28). "Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice (29) and come out, those who did good things to a resurrection of life, and those who practiced vile things to a resurrection of judgment".

I am out of Arkansas and learn of our loss of Dr. Seiler several days late. I doubt that any psychiatrist has brought more compassion, disciplined and state-of-the-art psychiatric analytical ability, with the additional and unusual ability to weld the science with the realities being encountered, than Dr. Warren Seiler. He was a great man striving to be humble -- which was difficult for him, LSU, Vanderbilt, New Orleans, Notre Dame, and all. And I have lost another friend.

I met Dr. Seiler after being referred by my child's PCP she had been released from a inpatient facility and was over medicated. Dr Seiler stopped all medications and got her on the right track and she is still doing well today. I am forever greatful for him and he will truly be missed!!

We were very sad to be told of the passing of Warren. We wish we were closer in order to attend the services. We so appreciated you Lane, Warren, Marley and Micheal while we lived in Little Rock. You will remember Jon and Katie were always going to the skating rink while you all were in school at St. Edwards. But then you all went on to Catholic High School for Boys, and then the girls went to Mount St. Mary's. Life went on, and each of you found your own paths. All of you will be remembered in prayers, with the hope of finding peace as soon as you can. Please know you are appreciated, and Dr. Seiler was so appreciated and respected in his field.

Laine and family: Sorry to hear, prayers up for all of you. Arkansas does not have child psychiatrists to spare! I feel blessed to have known and worked with Warren, and I know a whole bunch of kids have better lives because of his work with them.
