Gordon French, 81, of Batesville died Tuesday, May 31, 2016, at White River Medical Center in Batesville.

Born April 21, 1935, in Center Conway, New Hampshire, he was the son of Ben French and Marge (Frost) French.

He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, serving during the Vietnam War as a flight engineer on a transport/cargo plane. He was a feed mill manager at Townsends of Arkansas until his retirement. Gordon was a loving husband, father, grandfather and blessing to his friends. He is playing golf in Heaven and making a hole-in-one. He was a member and deacon at Mount Zion Baptist Church at Southside.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Lee French of Batesville; three sons, Jeff French of Poughkeepsie, Arkansas, Chris Pretty and his wife, Stacy, of Batesville, and Kevin Pretty of Southside; two daughters, Allison Mathias and her husband, Donnie, and Amy Hinds, all of Poughkeepsie; seven grandchildren, Nick French, Janet Derrickson, T. J. Haney, Justin Wilkerson, Jenifer Wilkerson, Tana French, and Colton French; ten great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Merry Tolliett of Nashville, Arkansas.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and first wife, Alice Dean French.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 7, 2016, at Mount Zion Baptist Church at Southside with Bro. Bob Dailey and Bro. Eddy Lee officiating.

Arrangements are by Roller-Crouch Funeral Home of Batesville.

Dorothy,
We are shocked and saddened to learn of Gordon's passing. He was such a joyful man! We can remember when we first met you two in church and so glad we did. Loved getting to see both of you. Please know you and your family are in our prayers. We are so sorry.
