of Conway, AR

January 21, 1926 - May 28, 2016

Ruby Sebring Hefner, age 90, went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, May 28, 2016. She was born on Thursday, January 21, 1926 in Rupert, Arkansas. She was a member of Eastside Baptist Church in Conway. Mrs. Hefner was known for her sewing and crochet work. She loved to make items to give away and many family members and friends benefitted from her craft. She was co-owner of H & S Daycare in the late 60's to early 70's. Many Conway children started their early learning years with her. She was also an excellent cook and loved sharing meals with others. Everyone looked forward to eating her homemade rolls on all occasions. She was an extremely giving person who always put others needs before her own.

She married the love of her life Opie Hefner on August 10, 1943 at the courthouse in Lawrence, Kansas. They celebrated 60 years of marriage in 2003. He preceded her in death on May 15, 2004.
Also predeceased were her parents, James and Ruth Sebring, her brother Jimmy Sebring, and her son Ron Hefner.

She is survived by a daughter, Janice Stephens and husband Steve of Arkadelphia, AR, a son, Jay Hefner and wife Jana of Conway, and daughter-in-law Janet Hefner Wong and husband Morri of Fort Worth, TX. She is also survived by seven grandchildren - Rachell Sorrells (Chad), John Stephens (Kay), Paul Stephens (Laura), Stuart Hefner (Erika), Joy Thomas (Ryan), Jayson Hefner (Hailey), and Jill Buie (Chase), 12 great grandchildren, one great great granddaughter, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at 10:00 am at Roller McNutt Funeral Home in Conway with Dr. Thom South and Darrell Spigner officiating. Visitation will be before the service at 9:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Crestlawn Cemetery.

Oh my, the memories I have with Ms. Ruby,
She took care of both my nieces, and my son, at S&H and Ding Dong Campus. (Vicki Lynn, Rebekah, Lance).
And, she took care of my son at her home.
They adored her-as did I.
Every year I still put the crochet ornaments, she made and gave me, on my Christmas tree.
Thank you, Ms. Ruby (Ms. "Booby"-toddler name for her); you shall for always have a special place in our hearts.
Ms. Esther

Jay,

My deepest sympathy to you and your family in the loss of your mother. I remember her as a sweet and caring woman who always offered "us boys" something good to eat at her house. She will be remembered for her kindness. Now she is with Opie again and that should comfort your hearts. God Bless you all, you will be in my prayers.

Dear Jay and Janice,

I have such precious memories of your mom at Antioch! She and Inez Sims helped me learn so many Bible passages and loved all of us during those early years in Sunday School and GA's. Your mom is a little part of who I am today and for that I will be forever grateful. I know she lived a long life but I also know there is never a good time to lose your mom. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Love, Teresa
