Shirley Austin, 78, of Mt. Vernon, Arkansas passed away Friday, May 20, 2016. She was born on Monday, November 29, 1937 in Morrilton, Arkansas to the late Claude Ward and the late Clara Ogden Ward.
Mrs. Austin was a retired school teacher from the Mayflower Elementary School. She loved arts and crafts but her greatest joy was her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two children, Sherlene Doan and Allen Henderson; and three sisters, Evelyn Lowrance, Loeatta McClain and Norma Marshall.
She leaves to cherish her memory, a son, Gary Doan (Terri) of Perry, Arkansas; a daughter, Odessa Bixler of Mt. Vernon, Arkansas; three grandsons, Jacob Brown, Nathan Robberts and Joseph Doan; and two great-grandchildren, Hunter Brown and Laylah Robberts.
Graveside service will be 10:00AM, Monday, May 23, 2016 in the Kilgore Cemetery in Birdtown with Brother Larry Wilhite officiating. Visitation will begin at 9:00AM at the cemetery. Interment will follow under the direction of Roller-McNutt Funeral Home of Greenbrier (501)679-2575.
