I had the wonderful pleasure as a patient care tech/aide at WRMC to take care of Mr. Jim a few different times! Mr. Jim was such a darling man. I kept him comfortable, refreshed and actually got to take care of Mr. Jim the night of his birthday. He greatly appreciated all that I did for him and he allowed me to feel so special and like such a great employee. People like Mr. Jim are the reasons why I feel so important in my position and want to continue my education to become a nurse. Mr. Jim complimented me every moment I was in the room checking his vitals, sugar, helping him to the restroom or bed side commode. He was very gentle and loving in his words and I'm so dearly honored to have met that sweet, sweet man! My deepest condolences go out to family and friends of Mr. Jim Black, I'll continue to keep everyone in my thoughts and prayers.

Sincerely

Sherina Smith

My goodness. I had just finished telling a "Brother Black" story last Saturday morning over breakfast. There are many and they always show his good heart and sense of humor. What a loss for us and a great reward for this wonderful servant of the Lord! Bro. Black was a gentle giant who loved his Savior, his family, and the people he ministered to every day. During the summers I was blessed to work at Ruddell Hill he was a constant guide and mentor. He truly lead by example. Years after, any time we ran in to each other he would always greet me with that grin, a bear hug and "Creighton, how are ya?" He never ever ever said good bye without saying, "love ya". I know he meant that. I am looking forward to the promise of the day when I will see him again. What a day that will be! My condolences to Sandra, Cheryl and Christie and their families.

There are not enough words to express how much I loved & respected Rev. Black. He had the uncanny ability of caring for you while you were caring for him.
I know that Heaven is all the sweeter now that he is there. And I can hardly wait to join him.
My heartfelt love to his sweet wife who has lost not only her life partner but her best friend. Remember Mrs. Black, you are not alone & I love you dearly because "All the first" are not easy.
To his children & precious grandchildren what a blessing to have had such father & grandfather. What a legacy he has left. But you all will need each other as you all adjust to his loss. Know you are all loved and thought of in my thoughts and prayers.
With all my respect and love, Deborah R. Aikens (Deb as he called me)

Bro. Jim was my first Baptist minister, and I attended Ruddell Hill several years with him saying, "Come on, if you take the first step, He will carry you the rest." I've never heard anyone quite as persuading as his invitation. I loved him and his family. And I know where he is now, and will see him again. Love to the family. Ginger Smith

I met Bro. Jim Black 20 years ago when I was a candy stripper at the hospital. I volunteered for 2 summers and always made it a point to go see him everyday. He was such a kind and friendly man. As time went on I would stop by his office every time I was at the hospital and visit with him. I remember him coming to see me when I was a patient when my son was born and bring him a stuffed animal.

He always had a smile to share with everyone. Everyone that ever met him was blessed by it.

I am praying for all his family and friends. May God wrap his arms around you and comfort you during this time.
