Curtis Harold Satterfield

of Mayflower, AR

March 11, 1938 - May 11, 2016

Curtis Harold Satterfield, 78 of Mayflower went home to be with the Lord May 11, 2016. He was born March 11, 1938 in Mayflower to Curtis Lee and Myrtle Satterfield. Harold, as he was known to friends and family, was raised in Mayflower and graduated from Mayflower High School in 1956.

He spent 50 years in construction, working in California until his retirement in 1999. Since first pursuing a career in construction, his amazing and rare vision could be seen in the passion he put into his work. Among his accomplishments are : Restoring the Historic San Francisco cable car system, the rebuilding of Oakland Hills in Oakland, California after it was struck by a firestorm, developing large amounts of land in Mayflower, and his last masterpiece, Satterfield Farms where he spent his final days.
Upon retiring, he moved back to Mayflower where he proceeded to develop Satterfield Farms and transform it into a beautiful showcase, making his love of his community evident. Most of his time was spent doing what he loved, his tractors, enjoying time with friends and family, and being at his farm.

He leaves behind his loving wife Gloria Satterfield, his sisters Helen Boyd of Little Rock and Ramona Harrell of Mayflower, son Curtis (Hal) and wife Michelle of Conway, daughters Valerie Satterfield Macy and husband Jay Macy, Loria Satterfield Alven and husband Dean Alven of Mayflower. Grandchildren Sandy Houser, Mary Jean Brech, Curtis Satterfield III, Kayleigh Hartje, Dean Jay Alven Jr., Dylan Alven, Kyle Satterfield , Devin Alven, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and his cousins and lifelong close friends, Gene and Helen Long. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Special thanks to close family friends Robert DeClerq, and Jim and Shirley Evans.

Pallbearers include, Robert DeClerq, Curtis Satterfield, Dean Jay Alven Jr., Dylan Alven, Kyle Satterfield and Devin Alven.

Funeral Service will be Saturday May 14th 2016 at 2:00PM at Mayflower First Baptist Church. Visitation will start an hour prior at the Church. Burial will follow at Mayflower Cemetery. Memorials can be made in Harold's Name to Mayflower First Baptist Church.

Gloria and the family,

Harold Satterfield...a friend to all who knew him, in a way he was like my dad in that I never met a man that didn't like Harold or my dad...he was truly a country gentleman kind, honest, a pleasure to be around and a very caring man.
One of his classmates mentioned it was sad to see him leave the land he loved...The Land He Loved..,he left his hometown and our community a better place for all to share...most of the people here will ever know how much he gave back to the Land He Loved...he and his lovely wife Gloria have gave so many improvements to this area and had no desire for the praise they deserved nor would they allow it publicly...they gave from the heart...to the Land They Loved so dearly...his family can always be proud of their dad, as well as the rest of his family he loved as well.
So long for now Harold Satterfield...hope to see you later...with love and appreciation to Harold and Gloria for making this Land WE Love a better place

I know he is in a better place now. No longer suffering.
I have always had much respect for him! He once told me that he would always be available to answer any questions I had involving construction issues or other. He was a truly wonderful man at work or home. He will be missed.

So sorry for your loss! I found Harold to be a man of character. His word was his bond...genuine to the core...a man of integrity, wise, empathetic with a delightful sense of humor. It's hard to let the "good guys" go and I will truly miss him as will everyone who really knew him.
