Virgle ''˜Bruce' Chaney, age 91, a lifelong resident of Lead Hill, Arkansas, went to be with the Lord Monday, May 9, 2016. He was born July 22, 1924, at the mouth of Bear Creek in a little community know as Lowery, Arkansas, the son of George Walker and Effie (Andrews) Chaney.

At the age of 17 Bruce was drafted into the military service where he served his country for over 3 years in the Navy during World War II. Upon arriving home, he married Hallene Green on December 24, 1946. He enjoyed running heavy equipment. He took pride in being a part of many road projects in Missouri and Arkansas those including the bypass and Airport Road in Harrison, Arkansas. He also enjoyed farming his land. He loved his family and it showed by the great example he set for them.

Bruce was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Hallene Chaney; two daughters, Beverly Ann Chaney and Sue Young; two brothers, Ben Chaney and Rue Chaney; and five sisters, Opal Lewis, Frankie Goin, Roxie Jane Lawhorn, Jessie Bailey and Cliffie Richardson.

Bruce is survived by his daughter, Jacqueline K. Chaney, of Lead Hill, Arkansas; his grandson, Bruce Salmon and his wife Nicki, of Valley Springs, Arkansas; 2 great-grandsons, Cody and Tate Salmon, of Valley Springs, Arkansas; his son-in-law, Jim Young, of Valley Springs, Arkansas; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Visitation was Thursday May 12, 2016, at Roller-Christeson Funeral Home. Funeral service was Friday, May13, 2016, at the Lead Hill Church of Christ with Larry Anderson officiating.

Interment was in Milum Cemetery at Lead Hill, Arkansas.

Pallbearers were Bruce Salmon, Cody Salmon, Tate Salmon, Todd Salmon, Jim Young, Carl Schuh, Jerry Bailey and Don Hefley.

Honorary pallbearers were the friends and employees of Lead Hill Café, Don Miller, Wes Richardson and members of Pleasant Ridge Church of Christ and Lead Hill Church of Christ.
