Winford Oakland Evans, 83, of Searcy passed away on April 23, 2016. He was born August 22, 1932 in Steprock, Arkansas to the late John and Prudy (Smith) Evans.
He graduated from Searcy High School in 1950. He enlisted in the United States Air Force in Korea for four years as Staff Sergeant where he served his country as an airplane mechanic. After returning home from service he attended Arkansas State University in Beebe. He began his own appliance business in Bald Knob, Arkansas for several years and retired in 2014. He enjoyed fishing and hunting with his brother, Wallace Evans and his sons and daughter. Winford attended Revival Church in Searcy.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Hazel Juanita (Hopper) Evans; four children, John Evans (Debbie Scott) of Little Rock, Phillip Evans and wife Sheila of Velvet Ridge, Phyllis Evans Odom and husband Gary of Searcy, Howard Evans and wife Ronda of Searcy; eleven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and brother, Wallace A. Evans of Albany, Oregon.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday, April 28, 2016, at Revival Church in Searcy with Rev. Daniel Whitley officiating. Interment will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery with Isaac Evans, Oakland Evans, William Evans, Miguel Ventura, Chase McCandless and Leslie Reynolds serving as pallbearers and John Brooks Evans, Dr. Jonathan Evans and Nick Evans serving as honorary pallbearers. Visitation will be 6:00 '''' 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Roller-Daniel Funeral Home in Searcy.

So sorry for your loss. May you find comfort in the

I met Winfred and Hazel Evans 50 years ago when I came to White County. I hitch hiked a lot in those days. Winfred gave me a lot of rides! I will never forget them!

I am sorrry to hear about the passing of Winford. He
was a very cheeful and loving man. I am a better
person for knowing and being related to him. Best
