October 21, 1929 - April 2, 2016

Hazel B. Bass, age 86, of Benton, Arkansas passed away Saturday, April 2, 2016 surrounded by family. She was born in Sache, Texas, the fourth of seven children, to the late Charlie and Maudie Mormon on October 21, 1929. Hazel retired after thirty years with Dallas County Schools where she drove a school bus and dispatched. She added an additional five years after going back upon retirement. In 1960, she became the first female long haul truck driver. She was also an avid bowler for over thirty years.

In addition to her parents, her husband, William ''Bill'' Bass; one brother, Charles Mormon; two sisters, Janice Thomas and Ruby Featherston, and one son, Jimmie Morris preceded her in death.

Survivors include one son, Johnny Maness and wife, Vickie; one daughter, Yolanda Wallace and husband, Charles; three grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, Aubrey Mormon and wife, Pauline and Lloyd Mormon and wife, Dorothy; her baby sister, Joyce Kiser and husband, Rev. Ted Kiser, and twenty-six nieces and nephews

Local memorial service is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 9, 2016 at Park Place Baptist Church, 22208 I-30 Frontage Road, Bryant, AR 72022 with Bro. Gary Lambright officiating.

Family and friends are asked to gather at Yolanda and Charles' home in Benton from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Friday, April 8, 2016.

A second memorial service is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 16, 2016 at Edgemont Park Baptist Church, 1804 Hickory Tree Road, Mesquite, TX 75149 with Rev. Ted Kiser officiating.

Inurnment will be scheduled for a later date in Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery in Dallas, TX.

I never met a more strong woman than
Hazel. She loved her family very much.
I loved her just like a mother. Especially
since I lost my mother at such a young age.

We will miss her so much. I always enjoyed
sitting back with her in her room talking with
her and watching old game shows, Gun smoke
and of course her favorite ball game which was
the Texas Rangers.

Some day we will see her again!!!
