Stewart E. RogersI am a Veteran.

of Benton, AR

January 2, 1922 - February 9, 2016

Stewart E. Rogers, Sr., age 94, of Benton, died peacefully Tuesday evening. He never expected to have his retirement from the Reynolds Metals Company last for nearly 30 years. They were good years for him as he and his wife Polly were able to enjoy time with their grandchildren and the great-grandchildren that followed. He held various positions at the Reynolds Bauxite facility with the last position being General Plant Manager. He was transferred to a management assignment in Jamaica with a Reynolds partnership known as ALPART until his retirement. He was an active member of First Baptist Church in Benton until his declining health kept him home. He was chairman of the committee that planned the construction and opening of the current church worship center but enjoyed more than anything his activity in the church music department.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jewell and Ervey Rogers of Bentonville, AR, his brother, James F. Rogers of Fayetteville, and his loving wife, Polly who was his partner for 57 years. They met in 1946 when she became the new singer in a dance band he had formed. Three months later, they were married and he was by her side each day from then on, until her death in 2004.

He is survived by two sons, Stewart Rogers, Jr. and his wife Cindy, of Mountain Home, AR and Bill Rogers and his wife, Tami of Benton; six grandchildren, Carolynn Dunlap and her husband, Shon of Columbia, MO, Christy Gunter and her husband Josh, of Mountain Home, AR, Rebecca Winters and her husband, Joel of Benton, AR, David Rogers and his fiancé, Ariel of North Little Rock, Alexia Frederick of Benton, and Alysia Frederick of Benton. He is also survived by seven great-grandchildren.

His celebration of life will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 13, 2016 at Roller-Ballard Funeral Home in Benton (501-315-4047) with Dr. Rick Grant officiating. Interment will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Park in Alexander.

The family will receive visitors from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Friday, February 12, 2016 at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Music Department at First Baptist Church, 211 S. Market St., Benton, AR 72015.

I have such fond childhood memories of Mr. Stewart and Mrs. Polly singing together. I'm so sorry I didn't know about his passing before now. It would have been a special treat to see my Rogers cousins again. Mr. Stewart and Mrs. Polly were a special couple and showed us an incredible example of how to love your spouse. Much love to you all!

Having you in my thoughts. My husband, James, enjoyed working with him at Reynolds Metals in Jamaica.

Stewart and Polly have stood out to me for many years as exceptional people, the kind we call "true blue". Naturally their two sons are equipped with the same good qualities. Thanks, Bill, for your support when I was at West Side. I am so sorry your dad and mom are no longer here, but they have left a memorable legacy for their family.

Stewart, You have my deepest sympathy and prayers upon the death of your father. I see from his obituary where you got your beautiful voice. I'm sure you made your dad proud by carrying on his legacy of music ministry. God bless you and your entire family.
