Troy "Skeet" B. Seaton

of West Helena, AR

October 8, 1952 - January 26, 2016

Troy Benton ''Skeet'' Seaton, age 63 of West Helena, was born October 8, 1952, in Wynne, AR to Adrian Gordon and Eunice Harris Seaton. The family moved to Lexa and then to West Helena when he was very young.

His all-consuming passion was playing drums. He began playing at the age of seven and continued until the Saturday night before his heart surgery on Monday with his band, Live Wire. He was inducted into the internet Rock-A-Billy Hall of Fame in 2011.

Skeet retired as a captain after serving twenty years on the West Helena Fire Department and was inducted into the Arkansas Firefighters Hall of Fame in 2012, having served as president of the Arkansas Firefighters Association. He then returned to school to become a licensed barber and owned and operated the Plaza Barbershop until his death.

He loved playing golf with his buddies and was a member of the West Helena Golf Association. He served as past president of the Helena-West Helena Noon Lions Club and was a member and drummer with the Seven Generals Camp 135 Sons of the Confederate Veterans. He was a long-time devoted member of the Scottish Rite and Lafayette Masonic Lodge, serving in all the offices, currently as treasurer. He was the author of the book about his music adventures. He was a devoted son, husband, father, brother, papaw and friend.

He is preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Niki Warren.

Skeet is survived by his wife, Rose; sister, Donna (James) Jackson of Flora, AR; daughters, Kimberly (Travis) Williams and Krissy (Jason) Poe of Aubrey; sons, Troy (Danielle) Seaton of West Helena, Dorian (Michelle) Kettler of Lake City, AR and Jeremy (Renee) Kettler of Denver, CO; the son he never wanted, Henry Edgin; eleven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, and several cousins and many friends.

A memorial service for Skeet Seaton will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, January 30, 2016 at Roller-Citizens Funeral Home. Visitation will precede the service from 1:00 P.M. until service time.

Memorials may be made to the Masonic Lodge or the Fallen Firefighters Fund.

Services will be directed by Roller-Citizens Funeral Home, West Helena, (870) 572-2571. Relatives and friends may sign the online guestbook at www.rollerfuneralhomes.com/westhelena.

It was our great pleasure to have knows Skeet. He was always in a great mood and the room seemed to get brighter when he entered. He had a unique wit and sense of humor I always enjoyed. My biggest association with Skeet was the fire department and the fish fries. Clay Whaley and I talk frequently and Skeet seems to always come up. We have thought of him fondly many times in the 37 years we have been away from West Helena.
Skeet will always be missed and always with us.

Rose & Troy,
Throughout the thirty years we knew Skeet, he had the respect and admiration of everyone who came in contact with him. To few are granted so warm a personality and so fine an intelligence.

He lightened many a day with his emails and funny stuff. We will surely miss this part our lives.

Please accept our deepest and sincerest sympathy for you and the family in your bereavement..

To Rose, Troy & all the Seaton family. Our world is less bright knowing that the shining star known as Skeet Seaton is now shining bright in heaven. When we moved here 3 years ago Skeet was one of the first friends David made. The bond between these two was amazing from the get-go! The first time we went to a Live Wire gig.....we were hooked. As many have already said Skeet came over, pulled up a chair and made us feel like life long friends. The one thing about Skeet, when you became his friend...you KNEW you were his friend. It was almost as if you were now a part of the Seaton Family. As I have read through all the memorials the true Bright Light that was Skeet Seaton is shining down on all of us! Skeet your kindness & amazing sense of humor will be missed but we will all see you again! The Lord has called home an awesome drummer to play for the Heavenly Band!

My best memory of Skeet was seeing him at Kelly's when my mother was visiting. My mother had just finished her cancer treatments and had on a wig. I told mom, "This is my barber Skeet," and he took off his hat to show his bald head and joked about being a barber, My mother, not to be outdone lifted her wig up to show her bald head, and the look on his face was priceless! Rose, Kim, Troy, and all famiy, this is one of the hardest condolences I have ever wrote for a friend. It may have been Livewire band, but I always said, "Skeet and them." I look at him and Rose as real friends, he always invited us, told us if for some reason we could not get in to tell them we were with the band, and made a place for us at the bands table. He was the same wherever we saw him. We will miss him dearly. Know he is walking on streets of gold, no pain, no sorrow, with a smile on his face for his family he loved so much. Rose you could just see his love for you in his eyes, and the pride for you Troy. I love you both dearly and if I can't do anything but listen or sit with you, please call me. Gwen 995-3111.

Thoughts and prayers go out to the family at this time. Skeet was a great classmate. He was truly a good person and I know that he really is feeling great now in the presence of Jesus.

I know my heart is broken by the loss of Skeet, and I see on Facebook whose hearts were broken too. Skeet has touched so many with his life. To the family, I just hate this feeling of helplessness, but I am keeping you in my thoughts and in my prayers.
