Oliver Lee Burks, 75, of Batesville, died Saturday at White River Medical Center.
He was born in Jamestown, Arkansas on April 16, 1940 and was the son of Lashlee Burks and Ionese Edmondson Burks.

He was a 1958 graduate of Searcy High School. After graduation, he became the owner/operator, along with his father, of Burks Body Shop in Searcy. In 1971, he started his career as an insurance adjuster with General Adjustment Bureau in Batesville and worked there until his retirement in 2000. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing on area lakes, deer hunting, and camping. He was also a long-time little league baseball coach in Batesville and an avid Razorback fan. He always enjoyed visiting and joking with family and friends. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Batesville.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Bennie Kaye (Dollar) Burks of Batesville; a son Jay Lee Burks of Elkins, AR; a daughter, Michelle Burks Canchalo of North Little Rock, AR; one grandson, Tyler Thompson of Bentonville; and one great-granddaughter, Lyllian Thompson of Bella Vista, AR. Other survivors include an uncle, Dr. Charles Edmondson of Fayetteville; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister, Joan Nadler.

Memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Justin Ledbetter officiating.

There will not be a visitation.

Arrangements are by Roller-Crouch Funeral Home of Batesville.
