Norman Gross, 80, died in Heber Springs, AR on November 30, 2015. He was born on December 1, 1934, in Cañon City, Colorado to Rev. Moritz and Mildred (Hanser) Gross. When a young boy his father accepted a call to Reeseville, WI. He lived there until his junior year in high school, when his father accepted a call to Red Bud, IL.
He graduated from Red Bud High School in 1953 and the University if Illinois in 1957. He graduated with the rank of 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Air Force.
He started his career as a navigator and later earned his wings as a pilot. His career took him all over the world and he retired in 1986 after 21 years and having achieved the rank of Lt. Colonel.
He is survived by a devoted wife Margaret (Campbell) of 31 years. His children Robert (Cate) Gross, Meg (Terry) Knop, Jackie Gross, Jill (Scott) Harris, a stepson Brad (Amy) Adams, stepdaughter Kim Adams; 15 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Rhonda Gross and brother Ronald Gross.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 4, 2015 at 4 PM at Hope Lutheran Church in Heber Springs, Arkansas with Pastors Gordon Gross and Larry Oetting officiating. Burial at Hope Lutheran Cemetery.
