Ruby Virginia Kading

of Batesville, AR

April 4, 1924 - November 29, 2015

Ruby Virginia Kading, 91, daughter of William ''Bill'' & Ruby Hiscocks Mains was born April 4, 1924, in Menlo, Iowa. She passed away peacefully November 29, 2015, surrounded by her children.

Virginia graduated from high school as valedictorian in Casey, Iowa in 1942. She attended Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa for two years, receiving her teaching certificate, then taught for two and half years, teaching all ages in country school as well as elementary students in town. On February 3, 1945, she was united in marriage to Donald Wayne Kading at Casey United Methodist Church. They made their first home on the family farm near Casey and soon moved to their own farm south of Casey. To their union, four children were born: Jane Elizabeth, Peggy Ann, Stanley Donald, and Donna Mae. Virginia was a homemaker extraordinaire, raising children, cooking, sewing, gardening, and cleaning. She was a very devout Christian and active in church as the superintendent of the children's Sunday School and led VBS. Virginia was trained to lead seminars for children's Sunday School for the Methodist church, teaching seminars all over the state of Iowa. She also served as the Band Mother's President for Adair-Casey High School.

Donald and Virginia moved to Yellville, Arkansas in 1970. While there, she was president of the Marion County Hospital Auxiliary and they attended Snow Church. They planned to retire on their property along the Buffalo River, where they were both re-baptized, until it was nationalized and they were relocated along the White River near Batesville, Arkansas. There, they made their church home at Southside Assembly of God, where she decorated and helped serve church dinners and was on the Missionary Commission. She was a member of the Literary Council of Batesville and tutored. She was an excellent hostess, preparing wonderful family dinners. She spent many hours reading her Bible and praying for her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and many others.

Virginia is survived by her four children: Jane Van Boskirk of Yellville, AR, Peggy Ann (Terry) Meitzen of Batesville, AR; Stan (Anita) Kading of Stuart, IA; and Donna (Sam) Mullis of Plano, TX; 9 grandchildren: Liz Van Boskirk of Portland, OR, John Van Boskirk of Yellville, AR, Tammy (James) Graham of Conroe, TX, Tim (Carma) Meitzen of Batesville, AR, Bob (Kate) Meitzen of Batesville, AR, Ashley (Amy) Kading of Casey, IA, Alex (Kate) Kading of Dexter, IA, Sarah Mullis of Dallas, TX, Megan (Andrew) Guirguis of Santa Monica, CA; 12 great grandchildren; and sister Roma (Glen) Bassett of Clive, IA, brother-in-law Bill Tracy of Clive, IA and sister-in-law Vina Mains of Stuart, IA.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Donald of 55 years, brother Dick Mains, sister Betty Tracy, sister-in-law Janet Mains, and son-in-law John Van Boskirk.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 5, 2015 at Southside Assembly of God in Batesville, AR. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetary. Visitation will be at the Roller-Crouch Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, December 4, 2015.

Memorials may be sent to the Southside Assembly of God, 549 Heber Springs Rd, Batesville, AR 72501.

Ms. Virginia was always so sweet to me when I attended Southside Assembly. She gave me the most beautiful blanket when I had my daughter. She will be missed, but more importantly, she left an awesome legacy for us women of God to live up to. My prayers are with her family during this time.

I have wonderful memories of staying with Donna as I was growing up. Virginia was always so patient and kind. I can't remember her ever telling me I couldn't stay the night. Poor thing, I practically lived with the Kadings for weeks at a time! Sending healing prayers and comforting hugs. I am so sorry for your loss.
