Robert Oliver Westmoreland

of Sherwood, AR

April 17, 1947 - November 27, 2015

Robert Oliver Westmoreland, 68, of North Little Rock, passed away peacefully at home on November 27, 2015. He was born on April 17, 1947, in Washington D.C. to the late Marguerite Seal Westmoreland and Ivey T. Westmoreland. Robert grew up on Tyler Street in Little Rock and was a proud member of the 1965 graduating class of Central High School and went on to attend the University of Arkansas.

He had a long and knowledgeable career in the steel building industry and was a very successful salesman and sales manager for McElroy Metal. After his retirement, many builders, former colleagues, business associates and friends sought his advice on their building projects.

In his spare time, he loved to fish, hunt and enjoy the outdoors. He adored his canine buddies, Ace, Rusty, and Tank, and they brought him immeasurable pleasure and companionship. His world stopped for Razorback ballgames and he was also a huge Dallas Cowboys and Baylor Bears fan.

Robert was a wonderful, generous and loving husband, best friend and father. He had a unique and special bond with numerous buddies from childhood, high school, college, work and the neighborhood. There are too many to name but you were all like brothers to him and were an extension of our family. Please know that all of the good times and activities you shared and the help and support of any kind, especially in recent years, meant so much to him and our family.

He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Glenda; his beloved son, William and his lovely wife, Kristen, of Garland, TX; Mother and Father-in-law, Clara and Farrell Buchanan of Pearland, Texas; brothers and sisters-in-law: Randall and Sharon Buchanan of League City, TX; Ronald and Carolyn Buchanan of Pearland, TX; Rich and Karen Hood of Conway, AR; nieces and nephews: Natalie and Mason Hood of Conway, AR, and Madison and Rachel Barringer of League City, TX; one uncle: Leo Seal of Ozark, AR, and Special In-laws; Richard and Jill Beaver of Frisco, TX.

Visitation will be held at Roller McNutt Funeral Home at 801 8th Ave. Conway, AR 72032 from 6-8 pm on Wednesday December 2, 2015.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the American Diabetes Association at www.diabetes.org or 1-800-342-2383; or to the National Kidney Foundation at www.kidney.org or 1-800-622-9010. Special thanks to Dr. Michael Bierle and the Davita Team, Dr. William Mabrey, and Dr. Gary Collins for your special care and for sharing your hunting, fishing and golfing stories.

Had the pleasure of knowing Robert over the last fifteen years . We ran into each other at Bates Feild and Stream where I worked . We often swapped stories and adventures from the past and that's how we found out we both attended Central High . Robert was two years ahead of me but we remembered each other . My best wishes go out to his family of whom he was very proud . I will look back on our visits and know what good friends we had become . You will be in my prayers

My condolences go out to Robert's family. Robert and I were best childhood friends and we both went to the same schools from Franklin to the U of A. We fished, hunted, spent the nights at each other 's homes, water skied, swam and just hung out together. I will miss him and will always remember him as an 18 year old boy who always had a way of putting a smile on your face. RIP Robert.

Robert and I grew up in the same neighborhood. I lived on Van Buren during my school years. We went from Franklin to Southwest Jr Hi, to Central High together. Robert was always a leader and a boy/young man who knew how to take charge. I hate to see such a vibrant man live for only 68 years. I know your hearts are deep in sorrow but my prayers are with your family. God will be with you. Linda

Robert and I were classmates at Little Rock Central Class of 1965. We double dated and had close mutual friends Barry Snyder and David Bain. Robert had one of the coolest cars, a blue Pontiac Le Mans. He and Barry argued over which car was faster, Barry had a red Comet Cyclone.
Robert will be missed by many.
Connie and I offer our condolences to the family.

Robert was a one of a kind, funny, easy to be with kind of guy. I was thrilled to see him at our LRCHS 45th. Reunion and even had the privilege of sitting at his table. We caught up on lots of crazy high school memories and good, good times. I am very happy to have known Robert and will always remember him with a smile.
My deepest condolences to his family - knowing how much he meant to his friends, it must be an even greater loss for his close family.
