Douglas Alton Foreman

of Mountain Home, AR

November 3, 2015

Douglas Alton Foreman, 63, from Mountain Home, Arkansas went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, November 3, 2015. Today we celebrate his life with the joyful confidence that he is in a far better place. Doug touched so many lives in the Mountain Home community. He never knew a stranger, and he was always ready with a cheerful word or a corny joke. Although there are so many things that we will remember about this man who was a loving husband, a wonderful father, and a generous friend, we will remember him most for three things. First of all, Doug was a man who loved Jesus. He always sought to be a man after God's own heart, and to seek him first in all things. He was well known for the gospel tracks he always carried, and his passion for sharing his faith with others. His greatest desire was to live a life that would bring glory to God, and lead others to Christ. Secondly, Doug was a man who loved his family. After 35 years of marriage, he still affectionately called his wife his bride, and he was the proud father of eight children. Whether he was cheering for his kids at Bomber games, taking them skiing on Lake Norfolk, or camping and riding bikes in the Ozarks, he was always happiest when his family was all together. His family will remember John Denver sing-alongs around the campfire, his Thanksgiving prayers, and mornings gathered in Wisdom Searches. And finally, Doug was a man who loved people. He was beloved by his co-workers at Baxter Regional Medical Center, where he worked as a cardiac sonographer, and by his fellow church members at The River Bible Church. He cared deeply about others, and invested his time and resources in his relationships. He was a great example to all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife Mary Foreman and his daughter Joanna Arnold; his daughter and son-in-law Rebekah and Zack Holder; his daughter Susanna Foreman; his son Paul Foreman; his son Craig Foreman; his daughter Patricia Foreman; his son Luke Foreman; his daughter Anna Grace Foreman; his granddaughters Emery and Kylen Holder; and his sister Pamela Rose.
Visitation will be Friday, November 6th from 4-8pm, with the family receiving visitors from 5pm-8pm. The funeral will be Saturday, November 7th at 11am.
Both services will be held at Eastside Baptist Church.
In honor of Doug, two memorial funds have been set up for his family at Arvest Band and TLC Bank.

And Mary, may I continue where Bryon Mcmurry left off, but first to you. As you know, both Bryon and I have experienced what you are going thru now, and there are no words adequate to take away or express the pain and loss you are experiencing. But there is comfort in knowing the impact of Doug's life on so many. I trust you will keep hearing from people who were touched by him, as that is a salve, next only to feeling God's caring ' arms' wrapped around you thru this season of your life.
I have such memories of Doug's and my early morning prayer times in '76 as we walked around the streets of Bellair before many were stirring. The days, months, year or two of working together on the roofs, laughing, talking, praying and experiencing the deep friendship and his hunger for God.. I remember your wedding and the wonderful celebration, beginning your new life together. After moving to Austin, our connection was more thru mutual friends, but always hearing of his steadfast love for Jesus, and your growing family.
Mary, I believe his spirit is with Candy's and Pennys amongst that great cloud of 'witnesses' waiting for the day when Gods whole family will be joined together and never again to be separated by time and geography.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family in this bitter sweet time of your journey.

To all of the Foreman Family,

Doug was an amazing person! Even though we don't understand why his life was taken so early here on Earth. God has a bigger plan for him! I know that I will miss his smile and corny jokes. I hope that you find comfort in the days ahead by knowing that he is and was an amazing person. My deepest sympathy for all of the family. I will continue to keep all of you in my partyers.

Foreman family you are in my thoughts and prayers and I am so sorry for your loss. I worked with Doug at BRMC for several years before he became my clinical instructor while I was in ultrasound school. He was such a kind, patient, and caring teacher. He even helped me find the job I have been at for the last 7 years before I graduated. I owe a lot to Doug, and will never forget him....

To the Foreman family, although I had never met any of you until the night of the visitation, I feel I know you all. Doug had spoken of each of you so many times since he has worked at BRMC. I worked with him almost daily in the ICU. He will always be remembered by his wonderful smile, and will be sorely missed by all of his BRMC family. My deepest sympathy to each and every one of you. We want to express our condolences to Doug's loved ones. With both of us having worked at BRMC for over 30 years, we'd met Doug many times. He was unfailingly friendly, calm, caring, and compassionate. When we heard of his tragic death, we were so saddened. But then just reading Doug's obituary and the guestbook entries from those who knew him and his family made us understand what a great impact Doug had in his too-short life. We know that his family and friends will miss him terribly, as will his BRMC family, but the life he lived ensures that there will be loving arms ready to hold each of you as you not only share your grief, but also your love and laughter as you remember wonderful memories you made with him. May God be with you and comfort you at this difficult time.

Hey Dougie!
I know! It’s normal, in a guest book like this, to write about the person, not to them. but hey, Man! Ever since we met by that Bellaire apartment swimming pool back in early ’76, we have been doing things together, well, not the normal, typical way, right? So, why change now?
Right away we clicked, had a cool connection, shared the bond of our new faith in Jesus, our changed lives, our excitement to tell others when ever and where ever we could!
And I love that, through all the years, the many ups and downs, those things never changed about you!
Just 2 weeks ago, when we got that chance to spend some wonderful time together, you even mentioned to me, more than once, how great it was to be witnessing with another brother about the love of Jesus!
It was just like old times, and I loved it just as much as you did!
The difference this time was, we now had wives, and kids, and lots of other things in our lives, but, I could tell, Jesus was still Number One for you!
I loved that about you, Dougie!

You know what else?
I loved your quiet courage!
Remember the time we went to the Black Sabbath concert? Not for the music, but so we could preach the Gospel to the people going in and coming out!
I guess our kids might not know that group, but they can guess where we were sure their music came from! So, after preaching yourself, and being jeered and ridiculed, and having things thrown at you, you then hoisted me up on the top of your shoulders, so I could reach this really high fence to stand on, and preach better from there!
The only thing you forgot to warn me about was, I would make a better target for their missiles.
And, you forgot to tell me when to duck!
So, we both got hit, but kept on preaching!
What a time!

but, Dougie, I never thought you’d head on Home before Jo and Mary and I!
I don’t think you did either!
I asked one of our friends (Randy) who became a Christian with us in Houston, what stood out to him about you, even in those younger days:
He answered immediately, “Doug told me one time, he wanted to live a long life!
I asked him why, thinking he would say for his family, maybe?
He answered simply, “I want to live out and demonstrate a long life of faith”.
Well, all of us who knew you, Dougie, feel your life was too short, but you showed us all what it meant to live that “life of faith”, every day!
You didn’t have to be perfect, you just had to follow Jesus, with all your heart! You did that, my brother and friend, and I already miss you, so much!
Bryan

So glad to have known such a wonderful guy and will always consider him my friend. May God comfort you in the following days and always. Prayers for all of the family and also Doug's work family. Mary and family,

Your Doug was an absolutely wonderful man. I was always excited to see him and felt truly welcomed by him no matter the time or place. Darryl felt the same way, as Doug was always ready with a hearty handshake and a silly joke or friendly jab. He was never too hurried, tired, stressed or grumpy to share a hug and a chat.

We simply loved him very much. Owen did too. He meant so much to us all and we can only pray he knew.

Thank you for honoring him with such a beautiful testimony of his love for Jesus. It is evident in you all as you walk this terrible time with such great courage.

Love you guys, Amy & Darryl Lanning & Owen Kraft
