Edna Mae Wilson

of Little Rock, AR

January 24, 1937 - September 29, 2015

Edna Mae Jennings Wilson, 78, of Little Rock, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 29, 2015.
Edna was born January 24, 1937 ''in the red brick house'' in Leslie, AR to Brad and Effie Jennings. She grew up in Memphis, TN where she attended Southside High School, went to beauty school, and then worked as a beautician at Goldsmith's.
She and her former husband, Leon Wilson, had four children. Edna was a homemaker who was always involved in her children's school activities and in her church. Edna went to college at UALR as an adult and earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Education at the age of 45! She taught music in Little Rock Public Schools for 17 years.
Being a mother was her most important role: she loved and cared for her children, 11 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Always the nurturer, she took care of friend's children and then cared for the elderly after she retired. Mom loved to sing and play the piano. After retiring, she enjoyed spending time in Mt. View, AR where she took art lessons and developed a love of painting. She was passionate about her faith and love for God.
Edna was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Juanita Reynolds; and two brothers, Leon and Richard Jennings. She is survived by special friend, Marvin Morrow; two brothers, Thad Jennings and twin brother, Edgar (Susan) Jennings; son, Ivan (Stacy) Wilson; daughters: Ravonda (Steve) Jones, Kermie (Rea) Gladstone, and Kenda (Steve) Shields; eleven grandchildren: Tyler (Jennifer), Brandon, Bill (Sarah), Ben (Jennifer), Nicole, Christina, Madelyn, Madison, Hayden, Halle, and Hayden; and two great-grandchildren, Oliver and Will.

To Edna'family, I want to tell you I have known your mother for several years and went to church with that dr that long. My husband and I was the leaders for our senior adults at Trinity and Edna was always there if she was able, she knew I liked a special cookie that she got at community bakery and if she brought them to a church function and there was some left, she would say " Mary takes these home I know you like them". She will be missed at our church. I also bought lots of Mary Kay from her
I pray God will comforter you and all the family at this time and I know He will

Edna Wilson was warm, sweet, funny and a special person in the life of Dian and Lib Jennings. She opened her home and her heart and treated us like her own children. She loved and gave and always had time for others. We loved
her cooking, her music and admired her faith. We will miss you Edna, and will hold you forever in our hearts.

I did not know Edna but we worked with ER Stanley caregiver service. I have heard some amazing things about Edna and may God be with her family and give you peace, Joy, and Love during this hard time.
