Lloyd ''Dickie'' Dawson died August 26, 2015 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma following a lengthy illness.He was born on the Peters Plantation in Turner on December 21, 1936, the son of Lee Roy and Sarah Dawson.
He served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps. Upon his discharge, he returned to Helena where he worked as a mechanic and service station operator. He retired from Allied Chemical.
Mr. Dawson leaves his son, Lloyd Jr. (Rassie) and his wife, Sharon; his granddaughter, Bobbie Leigh Waddell (Kevin) and great-grandchildren, Kayleigh and Natalie; brothers, Sam and Charles of Jackson, Tennessee; a sister, Hazel Jones of Helena; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
His wife, Melba Forthman Dawson, a son, Robert Lee ''Bobby'' and sister, Anne Jennings, preceded him in death.
A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m., Sunday, September 6 at Roller-Citizens Funeral Home.
