Many years ago, Wendell was instrumental in my son's (Lance Kershner) "boys" programs at Antioch Baptist Church. Wendell was really special to us.
Too, he and my late husband-Dr. Ron Mitchell-visited and "caught up" during the time Ron (The Clock Doc) worked on Wendell's clock(s). Memories...
God's grace at this time.

Dear Peggy and Jon,

I am the daughter of Dorothy and Bill Stringfellow, Vivian Duvall is my Aunt, and Mom's sister. I didn't know Sonny well, but read one of his poems when I was a poetry judge for a group in Little Rock, Arkansas Penwomen. Sonny was a heartfelt poet and I so much appreciated his poem and his presence when all the family would gather at funerals for Lilly Duvall's side of the family, my grandmother. He and Buddy were always there and so supportive of the family. Peggy, I met you at the reunion you all had up in Morrilton a couple of years ago. I brought Vivian up that day. I really appreciated that Sonny had found such a wonderful lady as you and I enjoyed our discussions about travel. My deepest condolences to you, this must be very hard for you.

And Jon, I got off an airplane once a few years ago and saw the name Duvall on your nametag. I asked if you were related to the Duvalls in Morrilton and Hattieville and you told me you were Sonny's son. I felt so proud of you! And told some of the family how wonderful it was for me to know you were flying the airplane I had just gotten off of. Your Dad must have been overjoyed at your courage, hard work and success. I won't forget that very short but meaningful encounter. You are all in my thoughts and prayers. I moved to Bozeman, Montana January 1st so I am sorry I can't be with you to pay my respects in person. May God bless you now and always and keep you safe. Love, Vicki
