June 11, 1939 - July 31, 2015

G. Wayne Jeffries of Conway departed this life on July 31, 2015. He was born in Conway on June 11, 1939, to C. Wayne Jeffries and Lucille Gilley Jeffries. On July 19, 1963, he married Lavada Kruse. Their 52nd wedding anniversary was just days prior to his death. He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant sister, Modena Kay; and a brother, Reverend Larry Jeffries.

Wayne was a graduate of Conway High School and Arkansas State Teachers College (UCA). He served in the Army Reserve. He also enjoyed a 40 year career with Virco Manufacturing Corp. of Conway.

He is survived by his wife, Lavada; a nephew, Greg Jeffries (Sheila); two sisters-in-law Phyllis Hall and Sandra Jeffries; and a great niece and nephew, Kristin and Joshua Jeffries.

A special thank you to his many friends at Centennial Valley Club for all the joy they brought to his life. The family wishes to express deep gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and staff at Conway Regional Hospital who so skillfully and compassionately cared for him.

A private family memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the Humane Society in Conway in Wayne's memory at P.O. Box 1055, Conway, AR 72033.

So very sorry to hear of Wayne's passing...he was a very dear friend and Boss to me in my years at Virco. It was in the Army that my husband Carroll Hankins became a friend and comrade with him!! They served during the time of the (Little Rock Nine Crisis) although my husband never talked about it:: It was a history changing time for our State and Country!! Love and prayers for you and your family!!

So sorry to hear of your loss. Wayne was my very first boss in the warehouse
at Virco back in the late 70's. He showed me the ropes when I was just starting out in the working world. He was a tough boss but he expected nothing but the best from his workers. It was just what I needed to put me on the right path.
Thank you, Wayne. Until we meet again.....

I was so saddened to hear of Wayne's death. We knew each other as kids, and our parents were good friends. I just reconnected with Wayne on Facebook, and was so glad to add a familiar friend whom I hadn't seen in years.
I would pray God's comfort for you his wife, and all the family. He was a kind man and fun to visit with on FB. I am terribly sorry to hear of his death. May God bless you all, and give you peace. Linda Havens Smith.
