Bobby Gene ''Red'' Cheek, age 80, of Mountain Home, Arkansas passed away Friday, June 19, 2015, in Mountain Home. He was born October 12, 1934, in Pyatt, Arkansas to Ernest L. ''Bunk'' and Walsie L. (Tabor) Cheek.
Mr. Cheek married Leona Messick July 28, 1960, in Monkey Run, Arkansas. He was the former owner/operator of Messick & Cheek Electric Company for 53 years. He was a member of Pilgrim's Rest Baptist Church where he had served as a deacon since 1985.
Mr. Cheek is survived by a son Airl Cheek and wife Elizabeth of Flippin, Arkansas, a daughter Mariona Porter and husband Danny of Gassville, Arkansas, a sister Judy Peters of Harrison, two brothers Jimmy ''Booger Red'' Cheek of Pea Ridge, Arkansas and Kenneth ''Slugger'' Cheek of Wichita, Kansas, four grandchildren Jesse Cheek and wife Carla, Kate, Brooks and Satch Cheek. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, a sister Marylou and a brother Gary ''Ichabod'' Cheek.
''Grandpa Red'' was an avid baseball and basketball fan loving the Cardinals, the Cotter Warriors, and any team for which his grandchildren played. Red was the coach, pitcher, and recruiter for the MRU (Monkey Run University) church softball league dynasty of the early 1980's. He will be remembered for his generosity, work ethic, sense of humor, and kind spirit.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 24, 2015, at Pilgrim's Rest Baptist Church with Reverend Gene Carson and Reverend Charles Tilton, Jr. officiating. A visitation will be Tuesday from Noon - 9:00 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 6:00 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Pilgrim's Rest Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Humane Society of North Central Arkansas.
Arrangements are by Roller Funeral Home.

I'm sorry to hear about your father. My heart goes out to you and your family during this difficult time. I know my Dad sure thought a lot of your father.
I am very sorry for your loss. He was the last of an Era. All our dad's were such a big part of our lives. Lots of fond memories. I am sorry I missed the visitation and will not get to come to the funeral Nancy had a little stroke over the weekend and we are still dealing with that. God bless you and your family
