Alfred H. ''Red'' Lachowsky Jr., 82, of Conway passed away peacefully at his home to be with his loving wife of 56 years on Thursday, June 18, 2015. He was born on February 2, 1933 in Conway to the late Alfred H. Lachowsky Sr. and Eugenia George Lachowsky. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lucille Lachowsky and sister, Helen Ruth Lachowsky.
Alfred was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He retired from the post office and previously worked at Hiegel Lumber Company. He was an active member and volunteer at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, where he also was a member of the Knights of Columbus. Alfred was a master craftsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and the outdoors. He also enjoyed spending time gardening especially his fruits and berries for his famous wine.
He is survived by four sons, Rick (Lori) Lachowsky, Robert Lachowsky, and Ralph (Sherri) Lachowsky of Conway, and Andrew Lachowsky of Little Rock; three daughters, Charlotte (Steve) Simon and Deborah (Mike) Gangluff of Conway, and Elizabeth (Michael) Thaibinh of Marrero, Louisiana; grandchildren, Ashley, Tyler, Mitchell, Crystal, Jason, Kristin, Zachary, Hailey, Michael Andrew, Katrina and Michaela and eight great-grandchildren; brothers, George Lachowsky of Conway and sisters, Mary Rose Kroupa of Rogers, Arkansas and Theresa Hoyt of Bowling Green, Kentucky.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph Mausoleum with his grandchildren serving as pallbearers. Rosary will be at 6:00 p.m. Monday, June 22, 2015, followed by a visitation at St. Joseph's.

Ralph, I am so sorry to hear of Red's passing. I enjoyed being around him while he was working with my father-in-law on some houses years ago. He was a great fellow and a lot of fun to be around. Praying for you family during a difficult time.

Steve and I thought so much of Alfred. So many wonderful memories of him at the post office and all of the activities he was involved with at St. Joseph. We know how much you are all going to miss him but he and Mary will be celebrating in heaven together.

Alfred's passing away is such a shock, he and George were at 4 o'clock Mass Saturday and it certainly shows how we can be called "home" so suddenly.
