On June 15, 2015 Clarence Lavaun Strayhorn left the bonds of his fleshly body at the age of 87 to be with the Lord.
Born at home July 21, 1927 a short distance from where he made his home of over 63 years in the 16th Section Community near McRae.
The third of 11 children Clarence was preceded in death by his parents Alice and F.M. Strayhorn, sister Opal Webb, brothers Herman, Delbert and Glendal Strayhorn and daughter-in-law Josephine (Jo) Tice Strayhorn.
He leaves behind a loving family; his wife of 63 years, Vela (Stracener), a son and daughter-in-law Randy and Dianna Strayhorn, 3 grandsons, Nathan Strayhorn and his wife Jordan (a granddaughter at heart), Alex Strayhorn and Alex Wong; a granddaughter Sara Smith Cooper and her husband (basically another grandson) Corey Cooper, and a great-granddaughter Ava Cooper.
Clarence was a founding member of The 16th Section Church on Highway 267 near McRae where he served and attended almost every time the doors were opened for most if his 87 years.
He served in the United States Army in Korea and was Honorably Discharged with a rank of Corporal. He was employed most of his working years at the John Deere dealerships,in Beebe (Huffaker Implement) and in Kensett (Norman Implement).
A dedicated husband, loving father, and grandad. Gentle spirited, kind hearted, fair and considerate. Leaving a legacy we endeavor to emulate.

Visitation on Tuesday, June 16, 2015 from 5-7 PM at Roller-Daniel Funeral Home in Searcy. Funeral Services at 10 AM, Wednesday, June 17, 2015 in the Funeral Home Chapel.
Interment will follow in the Weir Cemetery.

Randy and family, so saddened to see your dad had died. Your parents are special to that community, particularly the church. We learned that when Danny used to preach revivals out there. It's so hard to lose a parent. But what a reunion soon. Much love & prayers.
