Mary Ella McLeskey

of Jonesboro, AR

December 15, 1935 - May 26, 2015

Mary Ella McLeskey 79 of Jonesboro passed away Tuesday, May 26, 2015 surrounded by her family. She was born December 15, 1935 in Bernie, Missouri to Carl and Mildred Rice Grimes.

Mary spent most of her adult life as a stay at home mom or what some folks refer to as a house wife. With five children to feed and a hard working husband, running the household was more than the challenge of full time employment. Anyone that ever sat down at Mary's dinner table could verify that she was one of the world's greatest cooks. She loved having her family with her and she loved doing for them.

Mary was a volunteer for the food bank until she and her husband moved to their house on Lake Norfork. Mary helped with children's Sunday school and summer church camps at Elizabeth. Whether you were having a bad day or a stretch of bad days Mary would always remind you about the things that you have to be thankful for and the blessings that should not be taken for granted. Most of all Mary loved God, her family and her church. Her outgoing personality and her laugh will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Jim McLeskey; grandson Justin West and a brother Bill Grimes.

Survivors include; sons Keith (Brenda) Summers and William ''Butch'' Summers of Jonesboro; daughters Sue Summers of Jonesboro, Sarah Ann Parker-Fisher (Nigel) of League City, Tx and Terry (Mark) Needham of Jonesboro; grandchildren, Sarah Elizabeth Summers, Katie (Tyler) Siegel, Stephanie Redus, Jackie (Brooke) Dotson, Ashley (Dannie) Thomas, Jared West, Chelsey (James) Gann; sister, Catherine (Jerry)Timms of Porter, Tx; brother Johnny (Shirley) Grimes of Humboldt, Tn; sixteen great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Saturday, May 30 at 10:00 AM at Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home with Joey Rupard officiating. Burial will follow at Jonesboro Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Larry Earnhart, Mark Needham, Jackie Dotson, Jared West, James Gann and Brent Long.

Visitation will be Friday May 29 from 5:00 8:00 PM at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to St. Bernards Villa Memory Care, Flo & Phil Jones Hospice House or Cancer Fund at St Bernards Development Foundation, 400 East St, Jonesboro, Ar. 72401.

My sincerest condolences to the family of Mrs. Mary McKleskey. I have worked with her granddaughter for quite some time and if nothing, I can attest to the fact that Mrs. Mclesky was Loved and must have exhibited Love because Stephanie Summers-Redus cherished every moment she spent with her Grandmother. Although I never knew her, personally, she seemed to be a beautiful and sweet lady and I salute her as a breast Cancer Survivor. To her daughter, Mrs. Sue Summers: May God be with you during this time of grief. To Stephanie, please know that we are here if you ever need a shoulder or an ear and it is my sincere prayer that you find the strength to be there for your children and your family. And to the family, may God keep you as well and offer you answers where you have questions and understanding to that which you leaves you wondering. God Bless you all.
