Mr. James L. Carpenter, age 79, of Benton, passed away Saturday May 16, 2015. He was born November 30, 1935 in Nashville, AR to the late Herford and Mattie Mae (Rice) Carpenter. He was a truck driver most of his life, having retired from Strauss Distribution in 2001. He was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Benton. He loved reading, fishing and hunting and enjoyed furniture restoration.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Don Carpenter.
Survivors include his wife of over 41 years, Barbara Carpenter; three daughters, Pam Wilson and husband, Ray of Little Rock, June Lujon of Austin, Texas, and Deborah Barns of Dallas Texas; nine grandchildren, and other relatives and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Benton with Father Y.C. officiating. Entombment will follow at Pinecrest Memorial Park in Alexander. In addition to Mr. Carpenter's grandson, Nick Wilson, Ray Wilson, Bill Knoedl, and Jim Knoedl will serve as pallbearers.
Rosary will begin at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at Roller-Ballard Funeral Home in Benton (501-315-4047) with the visitation to follow until 8:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, 900 W. Cross Street, Benton, AR 72015.
