of Onia, AR
December 14, 1951 - April 19, 2015
Mark H. Phillips, 63, of Onia, Arkansas passed away Sunday, April 19, 2015 at his home. Mark was born December 14, 1951 in Elyria, Ohio to John P. and Dorothy (Lesko) Phillips. Mark was a man of many words. Most of which were about his passions; family, hunting, fishing, the great outdoors, and rock. He always had a story to tell or an encouraging word for those near him. Mark was a jack of many trades, trying his hands in many endeavors and always having a positive story to share. His free time was spent focusing on family, outdoors, and many projects- too many to list. His family knew him as the rock, a very powerful presence to be near; the one who held them all together. His wife, Paula and him shared more than 40 years together. ''He was known to her as her everything'', loving husband and supporting mate. His kids know him as a cheerleader, friend, and hunting or fishing buddy. His grandchildren will remember him by his stories and loving embrace. He will be missed by many. And the moments shared with him cherished by all. In his younger years he attended the Catholic Church, but in later years he attended New Life Church.
Mark is survived by his mother, Dorothy (Lesko) Phillips; wife, Paula (Nixon) Phillips; two sons, Nicholas Phillips and wife Melissa, and Matthew Phillips and wife Beverly; one daughter, Lydia Sartain and husband Adam; one brother, Eric Phillips; two sisters, Jane Phillips and Jean Schmitz; four grandchildren, Madison Phillips, Cassandra Phillips, Molly Phillips, Ethan Pipkin, and one on the way who will be named Bennett.
Mark was preceded in death by his father, John P. Phillips.
Visitation will take place on Wednesday, April 22, 2015, from 1-3PM at Roller Coffman Chapel in Mountain View, Arkansas. Funeral services will follow the visitation beginning at 3:00PM with John Hill and Adam Sartain officiating. Interment will be at Pordue Cemetery in Onia, Arkansas.
Pallbearers are Nick Phillips, Matt Phillips, Eric Phillips, Adam Sartain, Matt Stevens, and Josh Jones. Honorary pallbearer is Ronald Sartain.
Roller Coffman Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
To Mark's Family, he was one of my best friends in High School. Mark was the guy who would come out of the blue, just show up when you needed him most and be there, I mean REALLY be there. I remember one day he picked me up and I was running along Beebe Road in Elyria and he said, hey, get in Lerch, we drove all over the place, had a blast, one of the greatest guys!!! Amy and I are so sorry he will not be with us. Alan
We are sorry to hear about the passing of Mark (my cousin), Just found out today (dog gone cell phone). Mark was always the Teddy bear as mom use to say. He spun her a story one time that she totally believed and then he admitted to his Aunt Jose that it was made up. Always talked in a soft drawn out way that was very soothing. Just wish I had been able to see him before his passing. We will keep him in our prayers
