Elias James GriffinI am a Veteran.

of Damascus, AR

June 7, 1934 - April 17, 2015

Born June 7th, 1934, Elias James Griffin passed from this life peacefully on April 17th, 2015 in the home amongst family. He was a caring husband, father, and pappaw. As a retired pastor, James devoted most of his life spreading the word of God and preparing for his glorious moment to meet Jesus. Anyone who was fortunate enough to cross paths with James knew him as ''The Mean Ol' Man from Damascus;'' a moniker he gave to himself in jest, but couldn't be further from the truth. Everywhere he went, Pappaw loved to joke and brighten the day of those he met. James is preceded in death by his parents, George R. And Georgia (Green) Griffin and one brother, Paul Griffin. James is survived by his loving wife, Elaine Griffin of the home, daughter Sheri Walker, son-in-law Tony Walker, grandchildren Sarah Walker and husband Scotty and Josh Walker and wife Danielle of Booneville, his great-grandchildren, Bethany Walker, Whitley Walker, Cole Boersma and Kelsey Boersma, his sister, Geraldine Burgess of Cabot and his brother, Robert Griffin of Cabot. As a younger man, James was in the National Guard Reserves and worked as a computer programmer in the 1950's. James sold prearrangements for Roller/McNutt funeral home and was a deputy coroner for many years. In the latter part of his life, James loved spending time riding his 4-wheeler and creating beautiful handmade oak furniture in his shop. He will be deeply missed, but never forgotten. One of his favorite bible verses was Romans 8:28- ''And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.''

Aunt Elaine,
So ...I don't know the void I am experiencing. First Daddy now my favorite Uncle. I know this leaves a huge hole in your life also.

We have confidence in Jesus, our and Uncle James' Lord. I have wondered if Daddy met him at the gate w/St. Peter.
I know they are preparing for that day when we are united with them.

I have tried to cLl but have lost your ph no. Mine is 210.517.6416. Hearing from you would be a great blessing.

Love You,
David
