James P. ''Jim'' Rogers, age 80, born on October 27, 1934 in Scranton, Arkansas went to be with the angels on March 1, 2015. Jim has been a lifelong resident of Scranton other than a few years with the Forest Service and doing a hitch in the military spent in Germany. Jim worked for the Forrest Service from 1952-1956 in California and then spent from 1956-1958 in active duty with the Army and then served in the reserves until 1961. Jim and Loretta married in 1960 and moved to Oklahoma City where their children were born. Jim attended welding school in Tulsa and joined the ironworkers in 1967 and left his mark of precision welds on all lock and dams on the Arkansas River and also at Arkansas Nuclear One. Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing, farming, playing cards with family and friends, held a lifetime membership with the Ironworkers Local 321 in Little Rock and was a member of Prairie View United Methodist Church. .
He is preceded in death by his parents, Andrew Scott and Letha (Benegar) Rogers; one sister, Avis Walker Rogers and one brother, William C. Rogers.
He leaves behind his wife of 55 years, Loretta (Stovall) Rogers of Scranton; one son, Chris W. Rogers and wife Karen of Paris; one daughter, Jaymie D. Rogers of Scranton; two grandchildren, Scott Ricketson and Sarah Ricketson; two sisters, Anna M. (Rogers) Bennett of South Carolina and Mary L. (Rogers) Whitehead of Crossett and a host of caregivers including Krista Crumpley, Debbie Berry, Jeff Boland, Gary Johnson, sister in law, Wilma Rogers, Mike Ricketson, Jesse Bray and also the group of caregivers from Arkansas Hospice.
Visitation will be held from 2:00-3:00 p.m., on Friday, March 6, 2015 at Roller Funeral Home Chapel in Paris.
Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 p.m., on Friday, March 6, 2015 at Roller Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Rev. Judy Hall under the direction of Roller Funeral Home in Paris.
Honorary pallbearer will be Ironworkers Local 321 in Little Rock represented by Paul Fox.
Memorial contributions may be made to Helping Our Kids, P.O. Box 89, Scranton, AR 72863.

So sorry to hear of Jim's passing.I was FST & BA 1972-1979 of Local #321 while Jim worked Ar Nuclear Power House. Probably worked with him at some point as I welded on Dardanelle Lock and Dam in 1962. Thoughts with the Family. Carroll Allison
