June 9, 1933 - January 23, 2015

The Lord called Fred home on January 23, 2015 at Heritage Living Center in Conway into a heaven free of pain and Alzheimer's. Mr. Simpson was born June 6, 1933 in Vilonia to the late Fredrick Simpson and Mary Sue Brown Simpson.
The family moved to Conway where Mr. Simpson graduated from Conway High in 1951. After graduation he joined the US Navy and was trained in the use of Morse code. After completing his training he became a Radioman Second Class serving on the rocket launcher, St. Joseph's River during the Korean War.
After being honorably discharged from the Navy in 1955 He returned to Conway and graduated from UCA (ASTC) in 1959 with a Bachelor of Science Degree. He taught in Little Rock for one year and then went to work for Dave Ward at the Ward School Bus Co. as a draftsman. After 38 years of service he retired as a Specifications Engineer. He traveled all over the U.S. and some foreign countries before retiring in August 1998.
He was a longtime member of Antioch Baptist Church in Conway.
In his earlier years he enjoyed golfing, playing dominoes, watching his son play football and baseball and watching his daughter play soccer and participate in the school band. He also enjoyed being with his veteran friends at the V.F.W. Post 2259. He was a kind and good man who was very witty and sweet.
Mr. Simpson was also preceded in death by one sister; Frances Jeanette Simpson Pearson.
He is survived by his wife of over 50 years, whom he married November 25, 1964: Eleanor Connie Burr Simpson, children: Wesley Burr Simpson (Mary) of Greenbrier, Lainie Erin Simpson of North Little Rock, sister: Alice Ann Simpson Warren (Delbert) of Conway, grandchildren: Weston Simpson, Alexandra (Allie) Simpson, Jacob Sloan, Dylan Leet, Fredrick Hayden Simpson, Marcus Simpson, sister-in-law: Debbie Burr Floyd (V.A.D.M Kenny) of Coronado, CA, brothers-in-law: Gordon Burr (Betty) of Hot Springs, Donald Burr (Brenda) of Denton, TX, Gary Burr (Carol) of Conway.

Visitation will be held on Monday evening from 6-8 pm at the Funeral Home. Robbie Wills, Jimmy Toal, Mike Yoder, Weston Simpson, Jacob Sloan, and Dylan Leet will serve as pallbearers. I met Fred when I was a teen. As a long time friend of his daughter, I seen a man who loved his family dearly and a smile on his face. I always had much admiration for the kind man I seen. My heart is with the family, May you all be blessed with the beautiful memories and let the angels guide you through.
