Donald W. Phillips, age 71, of Jasper, died Sunday, January 18, 2015, at Hospice of the Hills Hospice House in Harrison. He was born December 7, 1943, in Parthenon, Arkansas, the son of Doy V. and Inez Phillips. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Don grew up in Parthenon working the farm and at a local sawmill as a teenager. He later moved to Kansas City, Missouri where he met his soon to be wife, Carolyn Wightman. They married August 8, 1964 and they raised three children together in Kansas City. While there, he worked as a machinist at Kuhar Metalizing and a die paper cutter at Tension Envelope. He loved his grandkids and enjoyed four-wheeler riding, riding motorcycles, fish fries, deer fries, country living and had a compassion for animals.
Don is survived by his wife, Carolyn, of the home; his son and daughter-in-law, Jerry Don and Mindi Phillips, of Harrison; two daughters and sons-in-law, Debra J. and Brian Ward of St. Louis and Diana E. and Randy Eads of Lone Jack, Missouri; his brother and sister-in-law, Billy Pat and Mardel Phillips; and seven grandchildren, Luke Phillips, Tyler Phillips, Briana Ward, Billy Ward, Gabby Eads, Sammy Eads and Maddy Eads; his Chihuahua Tilly and German Shepherd Bear.
Funeral service was Wednesday, January 21, 2015, at Parthenon Baptist Church with Pastor Wade Edwards officiating.
Interment was in Union Hill Cemetery.
Visitation was Tuesday at Roller-Christeson Funeral Home.
