Dottie was born October 24, 1931 in Paris Arkansas, the daughter of Truman H. and Lula Grace Payne Smith, and grew up in the Logan County community. As a new teacher, she lived in the Wilson ''Teacherage''-the original home of the Lee Wilson family- and experienced a special time in the history of the community. In 1954 she married Donnie McDaniel and was longtime member of the Wilson United Methodist Church. She is predeceased by her husband; her parents; and a brother Truman ''Tru'' H. Smith, Jr. of Fayetteville, Arkansas. She is survived by one brother, Raymond ''Ray'' C. Smith of Fayetteville, a sister, Mary Sue Smith of San Diego, California and several nieces and nephews.
T.J. and I both have wonderful memories of Dottie. She was an outstanding teacher for our two children and a goof friend to us. A teacher never knows whose life they touch. You touched many.
My love and prayers to the family. She was a great person in many ways, always a pleasure to be around. I remember when she would come to Paris to visit her parents, she and Milton would always have a few jokes to share. Love her.
Our condolences to the McDaniel family. Dottie was a great co worker and teacher.
Mrs. McDaniel was my 4th grade teacher. She not only helped to educate me in school but in life as well. She touched the lives of so many generations and will greatly missed. My heart goes out to her family and friends....
Mrs. McDaniel was truly a great lady, teacher, friend and a wonderful influence on many, many lives. She will live forever in the hearts and minds of her students. She was loved and respected by anyone who ever knew her. We will grieve and we will remember her grace and charm and compassion. Our sympathy to her family and our community.
I remember her enthusiasm when she helped establish Brownie and Girl Scout troops in Wilson with Mrs. Wren and Mabel McDaniel. She was a beautiful lady.
My deepest sympathy to Sudie, Ray and the rest of the family. She will be missed. She welcomed me into her life 12-years ago when Leila and I started dating. She showed me friendship and love from day one, and never stopped.
Love,
Harrison
