James William Trenthem Jr., 67 of Osceola, AR passed away Friday, December 26, 2014 in Jonesboro, AR. James was raised in Trumann, AR where he graduated in 1965. In 1966, he married Virginia Kay Lafarlett and later moved to Osceola in 1971 where they raised their two children. He served as manager of Fred's Dollar Store until 1976 when he purchased the Sonic Drive-In where he was blessed to have been able to operate with his son until 2006 when he retired. During his tenure, he was instrumental in shaping the lives of many young teenagers in the community. He is preceded in death by his father James ''Bill'' Trenthem, his mother Margaret Burleson Trenthem Hon, two sisters and one brother. He leaves behind his high school sweetheart and wife of 48 years Virginia Kay Trenthem; one son James ''Jim'' William (Nisa) Trenthem III of Greenbrier, AR; one daughter April Trenthem (Richard) Rocconi of Tioga, TX; four grandchildren: Will Trenthem, IV, Mallory Trenthem, Anthony Rocconi and Austin Rocconi; mother-in-law Dorothy Lafarlett; niece Rita Kay Lafarlett (Mark) Gallion; two brother-in-laws: Gordon (Yvonne) Lafarlett and Donnie Lafarlett.
I am so sorry for your loss. I hope the Lord holds your heart and gives you the strenght you need to live thru this. I know you have a large support team.
I hope the pain leaves soon and when you think of him you can smile and remember the good times.
I have known you and James since before your children were born. You always seemed to be the perfect couple. I know James is going to be a great void in you and your family,s lives as well as his friends lives. He will be greatly missed in the community.
Know that I am thinking of you and I pray that you and family will find peace as time goes by.

I first met Mr. Trentham when he was my boss at Fred's Dollar Store. He was so much fun to be around and a very thoughtful person. I've known him and his family many years and know he will truly be missed. God bless.

Please know our thoughts and prayers are with you all. Our hearts are heavy now, but we are going to dwell on happy memories of the good times we shared. We never expected that our time to enjoy James' friendship was going to end so soon. Keep the faith and remember that we love you all.
