Bobby Joe Gibbons

of Little Rock, AR

October 16, 1937 - December 15, 2014

Bobby Joe Gibbons, 77, of Little Rock saddled up and rode into his heavenly home on Monday, December 15, 2014. He was born in England, Arkansas on October 16, 1937 to the late T.R. ''Dock'' Gibbons and Della Nixon Gibbons. Bobby Joe was a longtime employee of the State of Arkansas, retiring with over 30 years of service and having been named ''Employee of the Month'' on multiple occasions.

He loved travel, country music, wearing western attire and all things cowboy. A member of the Baptist faith, he found comfort in the preaching of Charles Stanley and regularly watched the Cowboy Church on TV. Most significantly, he enjoyed the company of good friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings: Myrtle Heyer, Clark Gibbons, Nellie Sharp and Jimmy Gibbons. He is survived by his niece: Beverly (Danny) Tate of Rock Hill, South Carolina and three nephews: Jim (Callye), Glen (Gayla) and Jerry (Terry) Gibbons, all of central Arkansas plus extended family. Other survivors include special friends: Tim Gage, John and Kathy Hood, Kathy Moore, Eva Wood, the gang at the Relay Station and his beloved canine companion, Patrick.

Visitation will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 20, 2014 with funeral service following at NOON at Roller-Drummond Funeral Home, 10900 Interstate 30, Little Rock, Arkansas 72209 (501) 455-5800. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park in Little Rock.

Memorials may be made to CARTI. Rest in peace, Bobby Joe. ''Happy trails to you.''

Bobby Joe had a significant influence in my life and I will forever be grateful that he was my uncle. I am particularly appreciative of the special times my family got to spend with him during recent years, for holidays and birthdays that were more memorable because he was there. He served as an example of someone who worked hard and overcame much, who retained a childlike delight in giving to others. He made a difference for me and will always hold a special place in my heart. Much love to you, Joe. Happy Trails to you, Jim
