Allen J. Meachum, 85, of Maumelle, while holding hands with his loving wife of 64 years, peacefully left this earth to be with his Lord and Savior, Sunday, November 30, 2014. He was born April 4, 1929 in Batesville, Arkansas to the late Lonnie and Zela Meachum.
Allen was a veteran of the Arkansas National Guard, owner of the Ben Franklin store in Conway, retired real estate broker, and for the last seven years served as a cheerful Walmart door greeter in Maumelle. He was a 30 year member of Agape Church in Little Rock. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters Winnie Meachum Brown and Earlene Meachum McMullin and a nephew William "Bill" Brown.
He is survived by his wife Nina Cavenar Meachum; three sons David (JoAnn) Meachum, Douglas (Brenda) Meachum, and Daniel Meachum; two nieces Annette (Marvin) McMullin Smith and Jane McMullin; one nephew Robert "Bob" Brown; six grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
Memorial service is private. Memorial gifts may be made to the Victory Television Network, PO Box 22007, Little Rock, AR 72221.

It was my great pleasure to get to know and to work for Mr. Meachum in 1956-1957 when I was the "stock boy" for the Conway Ben Franklin store. I learned a lot about "retailing" from him through that experience. My duties included baby-sitting with David and Douglas. Please accept my deepest sympathy on your loss.

Oh the stories he used to tell me as we waited by the church guestroom for the Caldwells and the guest speakers. Getting his drivers license for $1....going back to get one for his mother. Opening the Ben Franklin store. His encounters with other business leaders. Things he accomplished as a husband, father, business man. He was/is a godly man and a real American treasure! I have worked with Mr. Allen the past six and half years at Walmart . He was the sweetest man I have ever known. I will miss all the stories he use to tell. Sending prayers and lots of love to you and your family! He will be greatly missed!
