George ''G.W.'' Kirby, 88, of Conway passed away November 25, 2014. He was born October 11, 1926 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Clyde S. Kirby and Clara Dollar Kirby.
G.W. was a longtime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Conway. He was also a member and past president of the Optimist Club and a member of the Knights of Columbus.
G.W. worked for AT&T telephone Company as a telephone technician and retired after 46 years of service. After retiring in 1981 he became the founder and owner of Kirby's Telephone in Conway.
He was skilled in the craft of woodworking and enjoyed spending time in his workshop. G.W. also loved growing a vegetable garden and was especially good at growing and raising tomatoes.
G.W. was preceded in death by his first wife of 46 years; Mary Florence Burch Kirby, and one daughter; Ann B. Davis.
He is survived by his wife of 13 years; Martha Whitehorn Kirby of Conway, three grandchildren; Stacy Kirby Davis (Alecia) of Conway, Kelley McDougal (Kyle) of Cabot, and Brian Whitehorn (Brandie) of Little Rock, three great grandchildren , one great-great grandson and one stepdaughter; Ellen Whitehorn of Conway.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00am Monday, December 1, 2014 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Conway with Rev. John Marconi officiating. A visitation will be held from 6:00pm to 8:00pm Sunday November 30, 2014 at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home in Conway.
Serving as Pallbearers will be Kyle McDougal, Gary Davis, and Brian Whitehorn.
So sorry to just hear of your loss. I fondly remember George coming to the rectory at St. Joseph and bringing Stacey with him way back when.

Martha, I am sorry for your loss of GW. I was in St Louis for Thanksgiving and am sorry I couldn't make it to the visitation or funeral. Prayers for your family.

So sorry to read of your Grandpa's death. He and Mary were always so sweet when I'd see them at Mass. I just returned from visiting Tom and family for Thanksgiving in Oklahoma City area. I know he would want to send his condolences too. Love and Prayers!
