Marian Quindora (Phillips) Sanders, age 80 of Valley Springs, Arkansas passed from this life on Sunday, November 23, 2014 at Regency Hospital in Springdale, Arkansas after battling Alzheimer's disease for nearly 30 years. The youngest of six children born to Carl and Velona (Jones) Phillips, she was born on November 13, 1934 in Snowball, Arkansas and moved to Marshall as a teenager.

Quindora attended Marshall High School, where she played on the girls' basketball team and graduated from there in 1951. She also was a member of the White River Carnival royal court.
She married Searcy County native, Verl Sanders in 1953 and they moved to California, eventually settling in Indio in 1964. She was executive secretary for Heggblade-Marguleas Co. before helping her husband start Verl G. Sanders Trucking in the late 1960's.

In Indio, Quindora was a PTA officer, church choir director, a hospital volunteer, and for 20 years sang in the annual Arabian Nights Pageant at the Riverside County Fair and National Date Festival. In 1976, she returned to school, attending College of the Desert in Palm Desert, California, and earning a perfect 4.0 GPA. She played on the women's basketball team and was named one of the college's Women of Distinction in 1978, prior to receiving her Associate of Arts degree.

Quindora and Verl moved to Valley Springs in 1987. She was active in several clubs and organizations, including Rally Hill Friendship Club (serving several years as president), Boone County Farm Bureau and Boone County Cattlemen's Association. She was a member of Northvale Baptist Church in Harrison, where she sang in the choir and was a frequent soloist, and the Harrison Ukulele Band. She was also involved with the Baptist Woman's Missionary Union.

Quindora is preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Venita Taylor and Carrie Kronberg, and one brother, Clifford Phillips.

Survivors include her husband, Verl of Valley Springs; two daughters, Susan Kim Sanders of Valley Springs and Carla Sanders Harrison of Upland, California; son-in-law Rick Harrison of Upland, CA; one granddaughter, Cali Quinn Harrison of Upland, CA; one step-granddaughter, Lindsey Harrison of Carson City, NV; two brothers, Eual Phillips of Dennard and Hubert Phillips of Harrison; sister-in-law, Lyndell Phillips of California, and several nieces, nephews and other family who will also mourn her passing.

Arrangements are by Roller-Coffman Funeral Home in Marshall, Arkansas.

Memorial services will be 10:30 AM, Monday, December 01, 2014 at First Baptist Church in Valley Springs, Arkansas. A private family burial will take place in Canaan Cemetery near Marshall. Pallbearers will be Charles Passmore, Rick Harrison, Chuck Sutherland, Mike Phillips, Chris Phillips, Jimmy Keys and Steve Horton. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Floor 17, Chicago, IL 60601 or Woman's Missionary Union of Arkansas, WMU Foundation/AR - WMU TTT, 100 Missionary Ridge, Birmingham, AL 35242.

To Quindora family,
She was such a sweet lady and an inspiration to all of us. She had good leadership skills. I enjoyed serving with her on our WMU team. I had great respect and admiration for her. I know God will supply all your needs at this time. The memorial service was perfect for her. She would have been happy and smiling all the time.
