Hardy Bell

of Sherwood, AR

April 19, 1942 - November 16, 2014

Hardy Bell of Sherwood could be found every Sunday morning worshiping his Lord. Sunday morning November 16 he joyfully went to worship with his Lord. Hardy loved people and relished in building relationships with everyone he met. He had many wonderful friends that he truly loved. Hardy was Associate Pastor at Sylvan Hills First Baptist Church for 35 years. He also served on the executive committee of Abundant Life Ministries of Honduras. He and Nina Webb Bell had shared life together for 52 years. Their love and attachment deepened with each year. Their daughter Paula Bell Stone was the delight of Hardy's life and the bond they formed from the day she was born was protected and valued by them both. Hardy will be buried in Sparkman in Sardis Cemetery beside his parents Adelle and Howard Bell. He was preceded in death by his sister Brenda Bell Freeman and nephew Michael Bell. He is survived by his brother William Bell and wife Cherrel, his sister Gale Bell and nieces Jenny Kubacak, Emily Freeman and Angie Bell.
The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m., Wednesday, November 19, 2014 at Roller-Owens Funeral Home, 5509 John F. Kennedy Blvd., North Little Rock, AR 72116 (501-791-7400). Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, November 20, 2014 at Sylvan Hills First Baptist Church, 9008 Hwy 107, Sherwood, AR 72120. Interment will follow at 3 p.m. at Sardis Cemetery, Hwy 128, Sparkman, AR 71763. The family suggest memorial contributions be made to Sylvan Hills First Baptist Church, Sardis Cemetery, or American Diabetes Association, 320 Executive Court, Suite 104, Little Rock, AR 72205.

Miss Nina, I am so glad I saw you at Hobby Lobby today, but so very very sorry to hear the news about Bro. Hardy. He was absolutely one of the sweetest persons on God's earth and I feel so blessed to have known him for such a short time. I will never forget his parting words every time I saw him at the branch, "Lord bless you Ann"; how I will miss those words. As Christians we have hope in the Lord and know that we will see our Christian brothers and sisters again one day but in the meantime, my prayers are with you and your loved ones. I ask our Lord to comfort you with a peace that only He can give.

Miss Nina and Family

We want to send our deepest condolences for your loss of a wonderful husband, father, brother, and spiritual leader. His smile and spirit warmed all he met. Bro. Hardy was the one who spoke with me and led me to Christ. He sat with me as I prayed to accept Christ as my Savior. Along my Christian walk, he has been there to encourage me on and guide me when I had questions. I have been blessed to have known him and to have had him play such a poignant role in my spiritual walk. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all during this time.

This man was amazing! He spent his life supporting, guiding, and ministering to others. Bro Hardy was the first preacher that had an impact on my life. He baptized me and officiated my wedding. This really saddens me, but I know he is rejoicing in Heaven. If ever there was a man who deserved to go to Heaven it was most definitely Brother Hardy Bell. Praying for his family and friends. May they find peace and comfort in their loss.

Dear sweet Nina Bell,
All the beautiful years that the two of you witnessed as one in God's love! A sweeter married couple I have never known. Mr. Bell will be missed by generations that he touched thru his heart of ministry. And you dear sweet one, will be carried by the Master's Hand as He holds you near during this time. We will miss seeing both of you at clinic. Much love and prayers, Louise

My heart was saddened to hear of Bro. Hardy's loss. I cherish the 24 years I was able to be around him while serving at Abundant Life. The encouraging words and support that he gave to our school and to me personally will always be cherished in my heart. May God comfort each of you during this time. He was a very godly man and there is no doubt where he is spending eternity. He always had a smile and a "word for the wise". My prayers and thoughts are with you.

And the king said to his servants, “Do you not know that a prince and a great man has fallen this day"? This is the testimony of Bro. Hardy.
May our Lord Jesus bring comfort and peace to you, Nina and Paula. I have respect and pleasant memories of Hardy from when I was a member at SHFBC in the 80's. He baptized my daughter, Laurie. He was a humble servant of Christ.

I knew Hardy and Nina for 35 years. Hardy was always there with a big smile and encouraging words. He is and always will be one of my biggest role models in Christ. I know he is rejoicing in Heaven and no longer in pain, but it is still painful for those of us still here on earth, to have lost such a wonderful, God fearing man. I take solace in knowing that my Matthew has now met him and knowing they will both be there waiting for me, when it is my time to go Home.
My thoughts and prayers are with the family and countless friends who had the blessing of having met him. I know I am blessed, and a better person because of Hardy. He taught me so much and I will continue to remember him as long as I am still here.
Love you, Nina!!

Where do you start . . . I meet Bro Hardy at the age of 11 when my mom, Genora Neal, went to work at SHFBC Day Care. To say he was a prominent figure in my life is an understatement. I will forever be grateful for the numerous warm hugs and heartfelt prayers he extended to and with my sisters and I during our parents lengthy illnesses. There was never a doubt of his extension of God's love to us. We are better people for knowing him.

May time soften the pain until all that remains is the beauty of memories and the love . . . always the love. I pray your family feels God's love enfold you during this sad time. Heather

He now sees by sight what he practiced by faith. Our prayers are with you Miss Nina, Paula, Gale and family as you walk thru this time of grief.
